Introductory Paragraph OK?

[edit]

I have a bit of a problem in that I have added an introductory paragraph to my article, but the statement that

To comply with Wikipedia's lead section guidelines, the introduction of this article may need to be rewritten. Please discuss this issue on the talk page and read the layout guide to make sure the section will be inclusive of all essential details. (May 2012)

still remains. Is there something more I need to do? The reason I ask this is that we are leaving for Tokyo on Tuesday and I'm trying to tidy up as much stuff as I can before we leave. it took a while to find appropriate references for a general introductory paragraph, but I'm really quite pleased with what I added.

What we need now is one self contained sentence at the start that starts with P-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase inhibitors are ....
This is so that people with short attention spans, or page scrapers can get a quick summary. I admit I do not know what P-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase does. No need to get stressed about it as there is no dead line here. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:34, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

this is an important class of herbicides and i have been working it over. just wanted to point out that it appears that most of what was here was a pretty close paraphrase of Beaudegnies R et al. Herbicidal 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase inhibitors--a review of the triketone chemistry story from a Syngenta perspective. Bioorg Med Chem. 2009 Jun 15;17(12):4134-52. PMID 19349184... which wasn't cited. Hm. Jytdog (talk) 00:17, 5 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

OK, so I basically wrote an article from scratch. Needs more work. I left the history section mostly untouched. I think that is going to have to be massively trimmed, or maybe split off into its own article "History of the discovery of triketone HPPD inhibitors or something... assorted problems

[edit]

Introduction - remove , between amino acid & tyrosine. Mechanism of action - delete one is from "Plastoquinone is in turn is a...". Agricultural use - delete space before emergence. Delete , after Benzobicyclon. "...an important for factor for fulling..." is badly garbled. Herbicide risks and toxicities - what is the superscript :3 supposed to be? Genetically modified crops - the first paragraph refers to a collaboration to develop HPPD inhibitor and glufosinate resistance but the next paragraph refers to "The collaboration to develop stacked HPPD inhibitor/glyphosate resistant products...". Medical use - add , after first hydrolase. History of the discovery... - Crusgalli should not be capitalized. Add a , after spectrometry and preferably after IR. Add been before "dosed with a triketone". Why is there a ' before p-hydroxyphenylpyruvate? Ref. 33 - should probably be oudenone (unless there is a typo in the published paper). 69.72.92.96 (talk) 09:13, 29 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
