Knut might be very popular but not the official mascot for the g8 summit. He was suggested as being the mascot for the "Conference of the Parties, COP9" 2008 in Bonn. See Knut --84.190.83.35 03:58, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

Putin's last G8?
[edit]The article currently claims that the 33rd G8 summit will be the last one that Vladimir Putin attends on behalf of Russia. Given the increasingly dismal state of Russian politics, I think it very likely that Putin will find a way to circumvent the two-term limit for Russian presidents, and continue to attend G8 for many years to come. --Smack (talk) 05:52, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
- Good point, if you can find a reputable reference who says as much, we could include that in the article. Otherwise, though, it should stay out. Even using neutral language here without an adequate reference would be giving undue weight to the idea that Russian democracy is about to disintegrate.128.227.68.119 12:30, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
- Boy, talk about POV, I can say the same thing with Bush, considering the current decline in American liberty for some temporary safety. Maybe we can put that up too. Yongke 22:54, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
I have 2 questions: 1st is there an article on the proposed missile systems?? if so why no link? and secondly, where is putins point that no such missiles. as it is supposedly intended for, exist, made? I can see Putins concern that it would only serve to support an attack to the east. (for example threatening belarus, or even ukraina at some point(qed)).77.248.56.242 15:39, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
Carbon emission
[edit]It said about halving carbon emission by 2050. But from what? 1990 or current level? It is unclear what is going to be halved. =( __earth (Talk) 03:46, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:World Bank Logo.png
[edit]The image Image:World Bank Logo.png is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
- That this article is linked to from the image description page.
The following images also have this problem:

POV
[edit]"ATTAC Germany chartered three trains to get as many discontented citizens as possible from the farther parts of Germany and nearby countries to the year's biggest unified demonstration against G8"
This sentence is absolutely unobjective. It should be made clear that the protest against the G8 summit was not a big gathering of unemployed (as this link is widely used) and violent people. The protestants should not bei discredited by making it look like they were querulous. There should be no doubt that, first of all, the protests were a political statement. I suggest to change the sentence to something like
"ATTAC Germany chartered three trains to provide transportation for as many people as possible from the farther parts of Germany and nearby countries to the year's biggest unified demonstration against G8" -- de:User:Erdnuzz 16:11, 08.02.09 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.227.74.240 (talk) 15:17, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
Claims of poisoning
[edit]Laura Bush writes in her new memoir that she felt the American delegation was poisoned at this summit.
EU participation
[edit]There is a slow-motion edit war about one aspect of 33rd G8 summit. It needs scrutiny and discussion.
Collapsed argument and details
| ||||
---|---|---|---|---|
Beginning with the 3rd G7 summit in London in 1977, the President of the European Commission or his successor President of the European Union has been a formal participant in successive annual events -- see "EU and the G8". In each article about G7/G8 summits, Lucie-Marie has deleted text about EU participation. These serial reverts ignored hyperlinks in the supporting inline citations which were also deleted. Despite attempts to engage discussion here, no consensus has been achieved. Her opinions here have merit, but they remain only opinions. No cited source supports these reverts. Our core policies require something different. WP:V seems relevant because "the threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth — whether readers can check that material added to Wikipedia has already been published by a reliable source, not whether editors think it is true."
The edit history of 36th G8 summit records an unhelpful pattern:
The same pattern is seen at 37th G8 summit:

Re-inventing the wheel
[edit]The process of working on this article was unique.
At the same time, some of the steps in collaborative editing may be similar to other articles about other summits.
It is reasonable to list a few comments about what was learned during work on the 33rd G8 summit?
Perhaps this thread can help mitigate lessons learned the hard way? --Tenmei (talk) 23:59, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
