In a video from December, Lawler noted that, “No doubt she [Kathy Hochul] is going to face a real challenge in 2026. I wonder who could beat her?” He then winked and continued with, “Hmm? I might know a guy. Anyway, that’s a video for another day.” I think it’s pretty clear from this and other evidence that he’s going to run. But the question is what do we mark the status as? Would announcement pending be appropriate or something else? Any thoughts?
"Announcement pending" should only be used if there is a specific timeframe for when someone is going to declare their candidacy (e.g., "within the next two weeks"). It should not be used in a situation like this. His current placement in "publicly expressed interest" is perfectly fine. BottleOfChocolateMilk (talk) 21:49, 3 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
