Rory Thor: pipe or redirect?

@Catb2006: Noting that you have changed [[Rory Thor]] to [[Thor Chuan Leong|Rory Thor]] in this article. Personally, I prefer the former rather than the latter, since the redirect works fine, and it's less typing. Also, I have a database which I use to update century breaks etc. which means that, for this single player, I've had to make an exception to the formulas used. I think that we have used [[Rory Thor]] in all previous articles. I would like some other opinions on this, maybe from Lee Vilenski and Nigej. Pipe or redirect? Thank you Lee Vilenski. WP:NOTBROKEN is very clear on this, saying "Piping links solely to avoid redirects is generally a time-wasting exercise that can actually be detrimental." So I think we should go back to using Rory Thor in this article. Alan (talk) 10:37, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Qualifying rounds table

I think the "Qualifying rounds" table is too long. With the new qualifying arrangement for the Home Nations events and the German Masters we end up with a very long thin table.
It would be a fairly easy job to split the table into two side‑by‑side using <div style=display:inline-table> in the same way that the Championship League Order of play was done.

...and so I've knocked up a sample in my sandbox. Using <div style> means that it only goes side‑by‑side for wide screens. For narrower screens it looks much the same as it did before. This one took a while as I did it manually, but can easily automate the process for the others. Please have a look and tell me what you think. Alan (talk) 22:16, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

My worry will these type of things is that editors tend to tune the look to their own device/setup and ignore the fact that everyone's device/setup is different. However I think this suggestion works quite well. On my laptop at the default character size (100%) I have one table above the other. At 90% they are side by side. The other thing is that because its a relatively long table I don't mind an extra header, even if the tables are one above the other. Nigej (talk) 13:09, 2 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

...my only concern is that there seems to be an overly wide gap between the tables when they are side‑by‑side, which was not the case when using "ordinary" tables as in the Championship League. The gap looks fine to me, not overly big. I actually think it's good there's a bit more space between Round 2 (first table) and Round 1 (second table) than there is between rounds so that it's clear that it's a different sort of differentiation, that it doesn't just look like 4 rounds visually.
