unclear

[edit]

I believe the page should state that it is unclear how one of the delegates will be allocated, as a speaker at The Republican Party in the Virgin Islands watch party said they were using winner take all, but the RNC said it was proportional Cannolorosa (talk) 00:35, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

When the V.I. GOP submitted their delegate selection plan, their intention was a winner-take-all method using ranked-choice voting. Unsdr RNC Rule No. 16(c)(2), any caucus held prior to March 15 must allocate its delegates proportionally to the number of votes for each candidate, which is why they were forced to downgrade to a winner-take-most method. However, they still went ahead with the ranked-choice voting and gave all 4 delegates to Trump since he technically had a majority of the vote.
