Insufficient context, how so?

[edit]

Hi Scope_creep, can you clarify in what way that there's insufficient context to the election? What sort of information are you looking for? Thanks! -- Zanimum (talk) 02:16, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Where is Mississauga. Who know where that is. Are you supposed to just guess it? The lead explains nothing about election or why its been held. scope_creepTalk 16:32, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The article now includes Ontario, Canada in the lead. The text already notes Bonnie Crombie's resignation, so the "why" is covered. -- Zanimum (talk) 03:19, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ward 5 by-election

[edit]

I don't see why this article should cover the ward by-election as well. Can't we cover that at Ward 5 (Mississauga)? The new article title is very awkward. -- Earl Andrew - talk 02:15, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Somebody should get rid of the Ward 5 by-election in the title and revert it the previous title. Wikipedia does not cover ward level by-elections for Ontario, Canada municipalities. I'm not logged into Wikipedia with a username so someone else has to do it. 2607:FEA8:53DC:A700:CC96:11CC:4CA2:46E1 (talk) 03:44, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We can cover municipal by-elections, but probably not on standalone articles. -- Earl Andrew - talk 13:16, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The alternative to this would be changing the name to something like 2024 Mississauga municipal by-elections. I'm sure the Ward 5 one wouldn't be that big of a section, but it's something we can look at doing as well. Fulserish (talk) 18:02, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm open to that as well, though let's be honest - most people will be looking for information on the mayoral race. -- Earl Andrew - talk 19:22, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Or is it better to just put the by-election information in the Ward 5 (Mississauga) Wikipedia article. That's the way it's been done for ward level by-elections for the City of Toronto. 2607:FEA8:53DC:A700:F9F0:DB93:B8E3:89E0 (talk) 20:44, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's my preference as well. -- Earl Andrew - talk 21:55, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm clearly late to the party, but these by-elections are being run concurrently as one. The who's running page as maintained by the City itself is one page, media are covering it as one election, the ballot will be combined.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the ward-level Toronto by-elections, none of them were sparked by John Tory's resignation, this sort of domino effect? -- Zanimum (talk) 22:59, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Inserting the following paragraph: No source has been identified as yet showing the voting results by ward, although such information would be useful to see the extent of support for the leading candidates (current and former Councillors) within their own wards where their community engagement was best known by residents. Rob3519 (talk) 00:36, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined. The official results were released, and while they're not broken down by ward, they were broken down by polling station. I'll probably calculate the ward totals when I get the chance, unless someone else beats me to it.-- Earl Andrew - talk 13:21, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
