Candidates in Infobox
[edit]Given the current state of the upcoming leadership race, I would suggest for now we include all declared candidates. As the leadership progresses and deadlines are set (approved deadline etc.), we can shift Infobox criteria similar to how it has been done at 2022 Conservative Party of Canada leadership election. If there are more than 9 declared candidates, which is what the infobox can hold, we can revisit. For now, since Danielle Smith is the only declared candidate, I have added her. Infobox Candidate Colours
[edit]Question for fellow editors, do we want to follow the precedent set by the 2017 United Conservative Party leadership election and just use the party colour, or use individual campaign colours like the federal Conservative leadership elections (see: 2022 Conservative Party of Canada leadership election. Individual campaign colours make mapping it out easier when we create opinion polling charts, result breakdowns, etc., so I would be in favour of that approach. RoyalObserver (talk) 12:14, 20 May 2022 (UTC)
- Now that we have a first poll, I would support selecting differing colours for the candidates. Lilactree201 (talk) 13:17, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
- Alright. I would suggest we follow the guidelines that were decided on for the CPC Leadership pages as well, and try and avoid the party colour as much as possible (which is a tealish/blue). I would recommend the following based on the candidates websites: Toews - yellowish colour from his donate button, Jean - reddish colour from supporting text on his website, Smith - Greyish colour from her photo on her website, Loewen - bright blue from his website which is distinguishable from the UCP colour. Not sure what to use for Rock at this point. I will hold a bit longer for further consensus, and if there is no objection I will pull the colour codes and update the colours in a day or 2. - Sounds fine as a starting place. They may update their websites in future with more distinctive colours/branding. For Rock he could just be black for now, as a fairly neutral choice.Lilactree201 (talk) 12:10, 6 June 2022 (UTC)

Raj Sherman candidacy
[edit]Should he be listed as a candidate? The UCP denied the waiver he needs to appear on the ballot, so he isn't really a candidate. He can "run" his campaign all he wants, but it appears he won't be on the ballot. See: https://calgaryherald.com/opinion/columnists/braid-dr-raj-sherman-rejected-by-ucp-but-determined-to-run-anyway. RoyalObserver (talk) 12:19, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
- He should not be on the list if he was denied and I would agree with removing him from the list. RsNterra (talk) 10:27, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
- He is registered with elections alberta just like all the other candidates listed under registered. 70.65.183.11 (talk) 22:38, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
- Yes but he was also denied his waiver and ability to run by the party, unlike the other candidates. RoyalObserver (talk) 08:33, 7 July 2022 (UTC)

Only approved candidates in the infobox
[edit]Once another candidate is approved and becomes an official candidate, we should look at limiting the infobox to that class only. It's unlikely all of these candidates will be on the ballot. This is the same practice that was done for 2022 Conservative Party of Canada leadership election. I wouldn't do it now, since it would only be Toews and could look biased, but once additional candidates are approved we should adjust. Especially given that there are technically 10 candidates (if you count Raj Sherman who wasn't approved) and the Infobox only holds 9. Does anyone disagree?
