Broadcast Changes to and froing

[edit]

From what I've been seeing lately is that the 'Broadcast Changes' sub-section has been repeatedly been removed and re-added over and over again. In my opinion and for the sake of consistency, it needs to stay, as if you look at the 1996 ATCC page, it states that it was the final year of the Channel 7 broadcast, 2015, same deal, included Fox Sports and Foxtel along with Ten Sport being the broadcast partners. I find it extremely irritating that it keeps on toing and froing on removing the sub-section to adding it back in. Hiflex480 (talk) 01:09, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Agree, reinstated. Fecotank (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 01:06, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
This article is about the 2021 championship. The broadcaster does not affect the championship because the championship will play out the same way regardless of who broadcasts it. This is supposed to be an encyclopaedia, not a television viewing guide. Just because the 1996 and 2015 articles include it, that does not mean that the 2021 article should. If anything, it should be removed from the 1996 and 2015 articles. "Another article does it" is not an argument for including something, especially when it is something the inclusion of which should be questioned, not blindly followed. 1.144.111.242 (talk) 08:08, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Usually if anything major shows up, outside of driver line-ups, and are sourced, then it's usually added in. Another example of the use of broadcast changes is the 2012 Formula 1 Season, it states that Sky Sports and BBC were the broadcasters of the championship. While it may not affect the championship, yes, but it's always handy to those who want to know who broadcasted the series, whether it was in the past or in the current contract(s).Hiflex480 (talk) 11:26, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
If anything, make a Changes tab and put the Broadcast Changes sub-section into it.Hiflex480 (talk) 11:31, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't affect the running of the championship, so it cannot be considered a major change. 1.129.108.156 (talk) 05:10, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Historians and people with a keen eye for everything regarding the certain season, including who broadcasted it, consider it. Hiflex480 (talk) 01:38, 21 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
User:Hiflex480, this is the problem: "everything regarding the certain season". There is an attitude that everything that happens is notable enough for inclusion in an article, and that's simply not the case. The last major change of broadcaster came in 2015, but who remembers it now in 2020? If details of the broadcaster are to be included on Wikipedia, then they should be put on the most appropriate page: the Channel 7 article. 1.129.106.195 (talk) 02:20, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
For all of your objections, it was you, (back when you were playing by the rules and using a registered account instead of IP hopping), who added the Other changes section with the broadcast details to the 2015 article. And now you are kicking up a stink when somebody else does the same thing.
The last major change of broadcaster came in 2015, but who remembers it now in 2020? Who remembers who won the 2015 round at Winton? Should we delete that for the same reason? Of course not, a silly statement. Fecotank (talk) 01:14, 23 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It's not like the winner of the 2015 Winton round had any influence on the outcome of the championship, right? I mean, that would only happen if a race winner scored some kind of points and the person with the most points at the end of the year was declared the champion. Oh, wait. That's exactly what happens. But thank you for the straw man argument. 1.129.106.236 (talk) 23:06, 23 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've placed a semi-protection on this article, by request, because the "Broadcast rights" section has been repeatedly removed by several IP addresses. All users should discuss these changes and try to reach a consensus. Please note that if registered users engage in their own removing/adding of the content, then an administrator might conclude that the situation is an edit war (rather than vandalism). In those circumstances, the protection may be upgraded or sanctions may be imposed on the affected users. Please discuss this matter rather than editing to-and-fro. The Other changes format as used in 2015 as suggested, is probably a better way to consolidate this and other sundry changes. With the discussion having now run for over 7 days and no registered editors having come out in support of discussed text's deletion, have reinstated. Fecotank (talk) 02:50, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Good job. I especially like the way you concentrated on the sponsor changes and broadcast changes before you bothered to mention the tyre changes. It's not like the tyre changes are going to have any impact on the racing, right? 1.129.108.156 (talk) 05:10, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Glad you liked it, if you didn’t keep getting yourself locked out of articles for edit-warring, you could reorder it yourself. The other changes section in this article article follows the same format of the 2015 article, with the broadcast changes as the first paragraph, the tyre changes in the third. As a large contributor to that article, you seemingly had no problem with it there. Fecotank (talk) 01:19, 23 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Could you please point to the Wikipedia policy that says "all editors must feel exactly the same way about a subject as they did five years ago, and if they change their mind, then that contribution is invalidated"? Because I can't seem to find it. 1.129.106.236 (talk) 23:06, 23 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • It's happening again! Whether it is the same guy, but IP Hopping, I'm not sure, but I do know for a fact that I, and most of the users here agree, this is getting beyond a joke and needs to stop. It's under 'Other Changes' for a reason. Hiflex480 (talk) 09:14, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Have asked for the protection level to be raised. Clearly the same editor. Fecotank (talk) 10:14, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions for championship photos

[edit]

Ok, so hear me out on this, my suggestion for the section, to avoid WP:Stacking my suggestion is to have the photos of the driver and car side by side on one shot.

Shane van Gisbergen (Left) and Triple Eight Race Engineering (Right) are the current Drivers' and Teams' Championships points leaders.

What do you think?

Is there even an issue with stacking? I thought the point of WP:Stacking was to prevent large gaps in bodies of text, which does not occur when we have these two images stacked. The 2020 F1 page has four images stacked under the infobox with no issues. – Kytabu 02:12, 27 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Co driver with Jack Smith is Ash Walsh not David Wall 2001:8003:C483:4A00:8494:20FA:4AD6:574E (talk) 10:44, 18 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 11:49, 18 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
supercars.com reported on 16/11/21 that Wall is replacing Walsh (i.e. so the article is correct and no change is required). DH85868993 (talk) 03:37, 19 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
