France v Australia VAR controversy

[edit]

Hey guys! Can anyone help me with writing a section on 'France v Australia VAR controversy' on List of 2018 FIFA World Cup controversies?--Anbans 585 (talk) 18:30, 16 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Found the solution to this controversy: On the FIFA-section "line-ups" https://resources.fifa.com/image/upload/eng-05-0616-fra-aus-start-pdf-2957950.pdf?cloudid=ueojbqunjiip4n5wrayx you find the footnote "Version2: Change of officials". So it really is official! VAR: Vigliano (ARG), AVAR's: Lopes Martins (POR), Maidana (ARG), Maruffo (USA).

Will please someone mor experienced than me edit this on he match side? Thanks a lot. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rubisco147 (talkcontribs) 17:51, 20 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Fair Play Points

[edit]

Hello, was wondering about the fair play points. Would Yousef Poulsen's yellow in Australia be an indirect red card? (He earned a yellow card in the previous match, and will miss the one against France). Timeoin (talk) 19:06, 21 June 2018 (UTC) Timeoin (talk) 19:06, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No, only one deduction can be applied per match. S.A. Julio (talk) 20:20, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Peru v Denmark -- Never met before?

[edit]

The claim that Peru and Denmark have not faced each other is not accurate. Peru and Denmark already met at the 1997 U.S. Cup, which resulted in a 2-1 victory for the Danish.--MarshalN20 🕊 14:26, 26 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I can only assume that match wasn't sanctioned by FIFA, as the "head-to-heads" document produced by FIFA for this World Cup makes no mention of any previous meetings between the two (see here). – PeeJay 14:39, 26 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@PeeJay2K3: Right, but that does not justify the claim that the two teams never met before. I'll make the edit to fix it.--MarshalN20 🕊 14:48, 26 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
If the match wasn't sanctioned by FIFA, then the teams weren't the same. It doesn't count if it's not a FIFA-sanctioned match. It's essentially a "Denmark Invitational XI v Peru Invitational XI" game, not a proper match. – PeeJay 14:53, 26 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The two teams did face each other before. There's no need to get nit-picky about it. FIFA can say whatever it wants, but the records indicate otherwise.--MarshalN20 🕊 15:31, 26 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I mean, yeah, it's nit-picky, but it also follows the reliable sources. Technically, the teams were different. As I said, it wasn't Denmark v Peru, it was "Denmark XI v Peru XI". – PeeJay 15:39, 26 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
