Format
[edit]When will the article start using last year's format? LordAtlas (talk) 02:51, 4 April 2017 (UTC)
- Most of it is already there or it's sitting in a different spot waiting for when we need it, we just need more teams to lock down their seeding before we can continue rolling more stuff out. Deadman137 (talk) 18:09, 4 April 2017 (UTC)
Malkin goal totals
[edit]There is a discrepancy between the box scores and the game sheets about the goal totals of Evgeni Malkin and Bryan Rust. The league box scores list Rust as scoring 5 goals, when he has 4 to this point (confirmed by his player page and the game sheets), as a result Malkin's totals were lower by one as well. This was due to an error in the box score of game three between Columbus and Pittsburgh, the numbers currently in the article have been corrected according to the game sheets to account for this revelation. Western Conference Final Game 4
[edit]At the time of writing this the league is crediting the overtime goal to Nate Thompson on both the box score and the game sheet. The media is reporting that Corey Perry scored the winner. Unless something comes out from the league I'm going to leave this as it is currently written. Deadman137 (talk) 04:01, 19 May 2017 (UTC)
Nevermind, they just changed it to Corey Perry. Deadman137 (talk) 04:18, 19 May 2017 (UTC)
When dealing with uncertain goals, make sure to refresh the site as much as possible. NHL.com is quick to put the scorer onto their site based on who the refs thought scored it, but based on further replays, the League can change the credit of the goal as well as the people who assisted on it at any time before they release an official recap. If you are uncertain of a goal, wait until the recap comes out. Has it been an issue on-going past one day? Conyo14 (talk) 17:42, 20 May 2017 (UTC)
- They had it posted as Thompson for about 25 minutes after the game ended. I mainly just wrote this in case there was any issue while I obtained the correct information. Deadman137 (talk) 21:23, 21 May 2017 (UTC)
Western Conference Final Game 5
[edit]Excuse me if I sound like an upset Ducks fan, but this article, like the mainstream media, includes absolutely NO mention of the controversy surrounding Game 5 of the WCF. Officiating in that game was heavily criticized following a game-changing no-call when Nick Ritchie was high-sticked without a penalty. That needs to be changed immediately. I would therefore like to add this section, but I'm not exactly sure where. There have been multiple officiating controversies this postseason, and I believe a new section dedicated to those controversies should become a part of this article. I'm likely not wrong in saying this was one of the most controversial playoffs in recent history in terms of the officials.

- You'll need a verified source or two. This could be tough to add to the article due to the nature of the subject and the need for neutrality. I've done a quick search and I didn't come across anything that would help, but don't let that stop you. If you find anything bring it here and we can assess it to see if it will pass for inclusion in the article. Deadman137 (talk) 03:23, 28 May 2017 (UTC)
- Here are some sources I found to support the inconsistent officiating this playoffs: http://bleedinblue.com/2017/05/03/st-louis-blues-nhl-refs-joke-not-funny/ , http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2017/05/25/kerry-fraser-playoff-hockey-refereeing-not-acceptable/ , http://edmontonjournal.com/sports/hockey/nhl/cult-of-hockey/referees-ruin-the-game-as-anaheim-ducks-beat-oilers-4-3-in-overtime , http://thehockeywriters.com/what-does-the-nhl-stand-for-anyway/ Granted, these sources don't exactly come from neutral sites, but this is not going to be a very neutral topic.
