Live Race Source

[edit]
  • Hi! I am zjzr, an editor of some tennis articles (particularly those concerning Stan Wawrinka) and Survivor here in the wiki. I am also a General Messages moderator in Men's Tennis Forum. There, one of our moderators, Slasher1985 (a.k.a. Marian Ciulpan, one of those who helped in trying to prove that Guillermo Vilas is a former ATP World #1), with the help of a tennis journalist Eduardo Puppo created a live rankings system for the forum to use. It is very intricate, more detailed and IMO more accurate (as they tend to also recognize other rules, like rules about exemptions in the rankings) than the more popular live-tennis.eu. A project since 2012 that is Excel based, it has now been put into a new standalone site:

Open Era Rankings, The ATP Tennis Time Machine

With the page currently using Live Tennis Rankings as reference, could I recommend using this instead? It also much helpful for this page IMO because of the instant rankings breakdown it shows, showing which tournaments make up each player's points.

I would like to know your thoughts on this! Zjzr (talk) 08:59, 26 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Dark what!?

[edit]

Dark gold makes no sense for some non-native English speakers, and it makes no sense to me. Not a big fan of Apple/etc gold phones. Can someone edit that to be a clearer (wording/text of) color that does not use any gold/silver/other metals in its name? Are we out of colors here, please? I just do not get it. Gold is fine, but extra varieties of gold are not too good, IMHO. Thanks! Naki (talk) 12:14, 6 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank for removing this! Naki (talk) 14:23, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Removing Indoor Hardcourt H2H

[edit]

No other past event has court specific H2H. It’s inconsistent and honestly looks skewed to show favoritism for certain players. Sakya23 (talk) 00:50, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It could be pertinent. This event is always played on indoor hardcourt so how the players have fared on that surface could be of interest to our readers. Fyunck(click) (talk) 02:35, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Fyunck(click), this is quite valid for this event at least, IMHO. Naki (talk) 14:22, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Or editor doesn’t like nadal topping Federer in original chart and had to recreate an entirely New stat sheet. Sakya23 (talk) 03:16, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
That's possible but I would assume good faith, and looking at it, it is reasonable to include because the event is on hard court. And please sign your posts. Fyunck(click) (talk) 06:53, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
No this event is not always played on hard court. From 1970 until 1973 they played on carpet. In 1974 on grass. From 1975 until 1996 again on carpet and in 2005 on carpet yet again.Tvx1 17:39, 15 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
And..? Irrelevant and unnecessary details here, please keep to the point. No grass involved for years for this event, and also please note ATP killed off any carpet play, so no such thing can or will happen.Naki (talk) 20:42, 15 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
