Disputing the "stripping" of content by Triptothecottage

[edit]

I wish to dispute the self-described "stripping" of content in this article at 12:12, 19 April 2018 by user "Triptothecottage".

The edit appears to be based on a non-neutral representation of the content as "blatantly promotional material". Some of Triptothecottage's subsequent edits appear to be quite useful and uncontroversial, however the content deleted at the above stated time included a timeline of events, important alternate naming information, the removal of mentions of various participants such as Aboriginal people, the Homeless Persons Union, trans and gender diverse people, etc, oversimplification of locations of the dispute, relevant background information, endorsements, etc. The erasure of communities involved is of particular concern here, with Triptothecottage reducing all participants to "squatters", when it appears squatters were only one group/community involved.

I recommend this content be restored immediately. As the user "Utopic Oasis" seems to have built much of this article, any issues with providing sources could probably be resolved by messaging this user to work together to reference any unsourced claims.

I note additionally that this housing campaign was led by some of the most marginalised people in Melbourne, Victoria, some of whom are still homeless, and the content in this article was one of the few places on the internet one could find information about the housing campaign. Regardless of intention, the erasure of those communities involved and removal of content carries an inherent politics that favours the Victorian state government's position in relation to the housing campaign. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.170.239.17 (talk) 06:37, 10 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi to the person who wrote the above, I checked out the edit you mentioned and I would say Triptothecottage was only removing unsourced statements, if you want to readd the chronology with references that would be great!
re the NPOV tag, added by Triptothecottage not by the person who wrote the above, well i just read the article a year later on and it seems fairly objective to me, so i took the tag off
