Deaths

[edit]
  • The deaths section is getting out of hand. There are too many entries. Discuss a criteria for notability to trim the section.
  • Please use only reliable sources like prominent newspaper sites. Check dates of death before adding. I found several mistakes. The date of news article is not always date of death.
  • Use a single format for entries and citations.

  • I totally agree with Kenfyre, no. of death reports gone well beyond the scope of the 2015 in India page. India is a country with 1.2 billion populations and therefore no. of deaths of prominent personalities are also very high. I suggest we should put a cap of (let's say) 5 per month in such reports. In that case also it will be around 60 in the whole year the no. is still high. Now I have full faith on the Wikipedia editors that they will priorities the entries and edit the section (specially in January 2015) accordingly. And one more thing I'd like to see more input on the other important events also.

There are still fewer entries than in "2015 in the United Kingdom" and other smaller countries. I have used similar notability guidelines and format as "Deaths in 2015" e.g. A typical entry reports information in the following sequence: Name, age, reason for notability, established cause of death (if known) and reference. --Racklever (talk) 09:56, 24 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Racklever: Deaths in 2015 has only one guideline that the person should have a Wikipedia page, and it has no other notability criteria. -Kenfyre (talk) 08:34, 3 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I think we should remove deaths that were covered only by regional papers and not by national papers. Those entries belong in regional articles like 2015 in Delhi. What do you say, @M.soumen:? -Kenfyre (talk) 08:30, 3 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kenfyre, I also agree with you, there are too many entries in the Death category. It should be rationalized. Do what you believe best. Then it can always be reviewed if necessary. Regards M.soumen
