Pakistan PM reaction
[edit]In the article there are several references to some Pak authorities claiming that Indian weapons were used in the attack and some media houses have carried them. But in the letter that Pak PM Nawaz Sharif wrote to his Indian counterpart on June 11th 2014, just two days after the attack, he does not make any reference to the attack or the possibility of Indian involvement even obliquely.
Furthermore diplomatically it would have been untenable for Mr. Sharif to write such a warm and cordial letter to the Indian PM if he had access to reliable information that India was somehow involved. The fact that Mr. Sharif chose to write to Mr. Modi itself indirectly rubbishes the Pak authorities' claim that there was an Indian involvement.
In my reading of the Wikipedia article, this point has not been made. Since I am new to Wikipedia editing, I would request some guru to give this perspective in this article too. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Devbolt (talk • contribs) 01:16, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
- The allegations of Indian weapons found have been officially stated by security and military officials, and have also recieved coverage in media and some politicians. The attack at Jinnah airport actually occurred after Sharif's letter to Modi was written (see LeT claim weakens Sharif’s message to Modi.. ..the brazen attack in Karachi, which apparently came after the letter to Mr Modi was dispatched, has weakened any basis for optimism the Pakistani leader might have exuded in the well intended missive.) Hence, it is obviously not possible for Sharif to discuss the attack in that letter. Also, if and when Pakistan needs to take up such an issue with India, it would do so through diplomatic channels, not through a letter. Mar4d (talk) 13:26, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
- You are right Mar4d, looks like the letter was actually written on June 2nd, 2014 but was delivered to India through official sources only on June 11th. Sharif writes to Modi Interestingly, the letter itself doesn't specify a date, it only mentions June 2014. But overall I agree with your line of reasoning above. Thanks!--Devbolt (talk) 15:25, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
