East Harlem apartment buildings explosion2014 East Harlem apartment buildings explosion – The current name does not adequately identify the incident in question, as it is "free floating" without a year of occurrence to anchor it in a way that helps our readers. Although the argument has been made that WP:PRECISION forbids the use of a year in the title, that policy also notes that "Exceptions to the precision criterion, validated by consensus, may sometimes result from the application of some other naming criteria." The exception here is one which has been used on any number of existing articles, because it firms up the identification of the incident and follows common sense.

Similar articles which have years in their name to anchor them, and not to disambiguate then from other articles, are:

These were chosen more or less randomly, and I could have easily listed dozens of others, if not more. Clearly, the "precision" objection is one which has frequently been ignored in favor of using a common sense name which aids the readers of the encyclopedia. That should also be the case for this article. BMK (talk) 04:36, 21 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

2014 East Harlem apartment buildings explosion2014 East Harlem gas explosion – The explosion occurred because of a gas leak, the apartment buildings did not cause the explosion. Would align article title more with similar events of this nature, like the recent 2015 East Village gas explosion. --Relisted.
