Map Colors?

[edit]

The map appears to only have 3 division colors: far west, far east, and thye two in the middle are the same color - or appear that way. Is this a mistake? I have viewed this on two monitors, with two browsers (4 comb total) with no differentiation between these two central divisions map colors. I am seeing 4 colors using Firefox - A (West) = redish color, B (Midwest) = orangeish color, C (East) = Blue, D (East) = Green. Which ones (by letter if possible) are causing an issue? --Mo Rock...Monstrous (leech44) 18:53, 22 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The colours for Colorado, Ohio (Columbus) and Michigan (Detroit) are wrong on the map image — Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.234.17.32 (talk) 23:00, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As a thought, would we be better off reducing the size of the "proposed realignment" in this article and moving most to 2013–14 NHL season, where the extra data and the map would be far more useful? There is very much a case of undue weight here, given the changes don't apply to this season. Resolute 23:10, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

New playoff bracket for next year's realignment

[edit]

I've been experimenting with playoff bracket designs for next year's playoffs, since the NHL is going back to the division playoff format. My new bracket is currently at User:Canuckian89/New NHL Bracket, with an example at User:Canuckian89/Sandbox. If anyone is interested in commenting, please feel free to do so at User talk:Canuckian89/New NHL Bracket. Canuck89 (talk to me) 22:17, April 18, 2013 (UTC)

I thought that the NHL was going to do a wild card sort of thing? It seems to like they're going to have the top three teams from each division and two wild card teams.--Whodagoalie (talk) 19:56, 25 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Making the teams sortable in the standings

[edit]

I'm thinking about making the teams sortable in the two standings templates (for the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference). Does that sound like a good idea? I don't think it would hurt any, and it would make it a bit easier for people who don't check the standings often and want a quick way of finding their team(s). HeyMid (contribs) 11:34, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't really see the point: the table is short enough that it's easy to find a specific team, and someone looking for one team is likely to want to see its placement in the correct standings order. Plus, the individual team season pages already highlight the corresponding team in the standings table. Someone primarily interested in a specific team would probably be more likely to be looking at the specific team season page. isaacl (talk) 13:14, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You're right about that. It's probably not needed, as you say. HeyMid (contribs) 14:21, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Further Realigning

[edit]

How can a further realignment not be required if Phoenix moved to Quebec City. That would put 8 teams in Divison C and only 6 teams in Divsion A?Reverend Edward Brain, D.D. (talk) 19:52, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Rename to 2013 NHL season?

[edit]

I've noticed reliable sources referring to it as the 2013 season rather than the 2012–13 season:

The NHL calls it the 2012–13 season, but we are supposed to give more weight to third-party sources. Has this been discussed before?--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 21:58, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There was some discussion on the WT:HOCKEY talk page at one point, but I think the title is proper as is. An NHL season is not just games played. The 2012-13 season includes the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, free agency period and the lockout itself. It is at the proper title, imnsho. Resolute 22:04, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Here is that discussion: WT:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Archive55#'12-'13 season naming.--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 23:13, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Even though the league entered a lockout, the league was still operating. The article's current title is probably correct; in those two cases you link to above, they may only refer to the hockey season of the NHL (i.e. the regular season and the following playoffs), which did not begin until January 2013. Heymid (contribs) 22:10, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I see your point. What about articles that are related exclusively to the regular season and playoffs, like List of 2012–13 NHL Three Star Awards?--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 23:13, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'd prefer to remain consistent, myself. Resolute 23:16, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'd prefer to reflect what reliable sources use. If there is no dominant usage, I'd prefer precision and conciseness.--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 23:46, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Those articles are children of this one. Their names should follow this. Resolute 02:10, 20 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
