Finals series

[edit]

I was about to create a new template Template:6Team5MatchBracket-ALeague for the changed finals format, but then I noticed that the standard one Template:6TeamBracket should suit:

Elimination finals Semi finals Grand final
1
3
6

2
4
5

This looks accurate - does anyone else want to give it a check over? -- Chuq (talk) 03:30, 1 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Having checked this season's Rules Summary the bracket here doesn't reflect that, rather than definitely playing the winner of 3v6, the 1st Placed team will play the lower of the two Elimination Final winners, regardless of which Final they won. I've tried to create a bracket similar to the one used for the NFL playoffs - where the First Round matches are joined to all possible Second Round matches with dotted lines - but I am not skilled with editing actual templates. Is anyone else willing to give this a crack, or is the original bracket sufficient for now? Ai1238 (talk) 14:38, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Who hosts the final? The highest seed I'm assuming. 120.151.88.10 (talk) 01:13, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Matchboxes

[edit]

Team colors in matchboxes are excessive to say the least. They create a lot of visual noise w/out providing any meaningful information. —WiJG? 07:59, 6 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Keep it simple! I posted a suggestion some time ago - not sure on which talk/project page - about using a consistent format over the past few seasons. With the number of football league/competition articles there is no doubt already a suitable template out there. -- Chuq (talk) 03:53, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Oops. I just realised no template change is needed, the images just need to be removed from the fields! -- Chuq (talk) 04:10, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Removed the images for good. —WiJG? 07:08, 13 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Personally, the colours help me a lot in quickly seeing who's playing who. And, rather than creating 'visual noise', I think they add some colour to an otherwise colourless section. Obviously I'm more visually focused so that would be why but I'm sure there are others who'd agree with me as well. They basically act as a replacement for national flags which are used for national teams.O for Awesome (talk) 00:06, 11 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, I personally prefer the visual aid and don't think of it as 'visual noise'. And the correlation with team colours and national flags does give reason for the change, as well the team colours are used on many other A-League type articles. I say change for the better! -- User:2nyte 13:14, 11 October 2012 (AEST)
[edit]

Just wondering if we should be linking to the official HA-L reports (eg here) rather than the ones at SBS The World Game site. This is not a comment on the quality of either just a query. Silent Billy (talk) 07:04, 7 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Any link may be used as long as it is reliable and contains the information needed. Change if you so desire to. -- User:2nyte 13:14, 11 October 2012 (AEST)

I wasn't complaining or questioning the quality of the linked content - just asking why. Silent Billy (talk) 11:31, 13 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Perth Glory

[edit]

In regards to Pattersons Stadium they capacity used is not 43,000 but 20,000 due to pitch configuration. Can we change that and have the normal capacity in brackets? --144.53.226.17 (talk) 04:59, 19 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Clean sheets

[edit]

Would someone with more skills in wikitables than me be able to make a table for clean sheets in the stats section, along with goals and assists? --Matthew Proctor (talk) 06:51, 11 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Removing Crowds we don't like

[edit]

What has been done to the crowd table stinks off this. When the Melbourne Victory official website calls it a "Home" game then it is pretty hard to disagree. It also completely messes up the crowds because there is no other resource anywhere on the internet that records average crowds for the A-League as this article does. 121.216.12.20 (talk) 04:28, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

But how can that be included as a home crowd when the game is not at home? Regional round games are played outside of the home support, we've got to be consistent with the crowds and compare apples to apples. Every A-League team plays 13 home games, 13 away games and 1 regional game. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.144.59.78 (talk) 07:53, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If we're not including regional round crowds, how come Wellington's game in Auckland is counted? The regional round should be added, but perhaps in its own row. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.108.70.233 (talk) 23:28, 3 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Add to that that there is no official source saying regional round actually exists in 2012-13. If clubs chose to move their home games elsewhere for commercial reasons that is fine, but they are still home games according the the A-League website. 121.216.12.20 (talk) 19:20, 5 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
