Notes in Table

Am I on my own in thinking that note-tags and caveats should only be in the list format, and not in the table? I think the table should be a clear display of who's-in-where and/or what positions qualify for where. If we start putting note-tags in it I think it'll look too busy and it'll lose it's purpose for being included along-side the main list.

In the main list we can put the notes etc for people who care enough to scroll past the opening table. If we put the note-tags and their related notes in the table, people will stall on that and start trying decypher it all amidst the table, whereas if we don't they'll see the listed section, scroll down to that and then have an easier time of understanding everything because it's written out. curr

I don't know what the point of curr is in that table. It should be very simple: If they are not mathematically confirmed to be in the tournament, they should not be on the list at all. Associations are allocated places according to their 2010 UEFA league coefficient, which takes into account their performance in European competitions from 2005–06 to 2009–10.

The map is wrong...

The map is wrong. England is not the whole of the British Isles. This should be broken down into Wales, Scotland, England and Northern Ireland with the relevant number of teams allocated to each country. Yes I did erase it because

1. it contained duplicate material
2. it contained incorrect material too (the other map contained material related to countries in the playoffs)

I will remove it again. I suggest you fix the other map rather than create a new map with new errors.

I'm sure that someone will fix the map soon, and possibly use your suggestion of starting with the UEFA_members.svg image, which I've modified so it doesn't display. Top assists

People should really check UEFA's statistics before they make any edits. For example, several people seem to think that Fernando Torres has 3 assists, while a simple look at UEFA's website will show that he has 2. Kaiser Torikka (talk) 14:03, 21 October 2011 (UTC)

Appearances

No. The standard goalscoring table includes four things: 1) rank, 2) player, 3) player's club, 4) goal scored. This is common in all league article and various club tournaments. The only reason the goalscoring table for the Champions League has the "minutes played" column is that it is necessary for ranking. That's it. Appearances are not necessary for ranking (UEFA doesn't use it), therefore there is no point in having it. Doesn't really matter if it was done in the past; things changes. Colour scheme of Group Stage tables

There should be for advancement, and there is.

In case Leverkusen looses and Valencia/Chelsea play a draw you have to look at the table without Genk... Leverkusen has two wins and two defeats = 6 points, Chelsea and Valencia both have one win, two draws, one defeat = 5 points each. Teams Nomenclature

I would just like to be informed what determined whether a team with a city which has a different name in their own language than in English, will be referred to with the city name of the language of origin or city name in english?

I understand why Moscow are being used since they are using a completely different alphabet and that AC Milan and Genoa CFC is actually called that for historical reasons even in Italy despite the cities being named Milano and Genova there, but what are the reason behind the following:

Use of the English name of the city: Bayern Munich (instead of München) F.C. Copenhagen (instead of København)

Use of the name of the city from the language of Origin: Napoli (instead of Naples) FC Köln (instead of Cologne) AS Roma (instead of Rome) Sevilla (instead of Seville) IFK Göteborg (instead of Gothenburg)

To me it seems that as long as a team is not from a country that has a completely different alphabet (and by that I do not mean only a few extra letters) or a club is actually named after the english name, the most common is to use the name of the city from the country of origin, but Bayern München and F.C. Should it be mentioned that winning the tile earnes you a berth at the next Champions League?
