Election date
[edit]I don't have time to write and source this properly, but the nut of the situation is this: the current government wants to adjust the constituency boundaries; the opposition is opposed to this and has taken the issue to court to block the change. The current government accuses the opposition of stalling the election, the opposition accuses the current government of gerrymandering. This is why it is October already, and no election date set. I have found a news article from February 2009 (http://www.sknvibes.com/elections/NewsDetails.cfm/8562) that mentions that "the incumbent government has 90 days after the dissolution of Parliament to call the election." Which means the election could be as late as March 2010. Dracunculus (talk) 18:42, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
That's correct. Constitutionally, March 2010 is the last month when the election must be held. Besides the boundary issue (current PM Douglas will run as MP in one constituency at stake, that's why the high dispute), there is also teh issue of the dual citizenship which could change the electoral roll. There is zero collaboration between the two main parties and instead 100% obstruction. That s why the elections have been delayed so far. Therefore, I suggest to change the name of the file to Saint Kitts legislative elections 2010.
Parliament has been dissolved! No election date set yet. (http://www.sknvibes.com/News/NewsDetails.cfm/12461)
