Unclear wording needs clearing up
[edit]"The mutiny broke out when the government announced it had uncovered a coup plot to destabilize Georgia and assassinate President Mikheil Saakashvili." Does that mean the mutiny was part of the assassination plot or that it was a response against it? Kingturtle (talk) 14:20, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
- From what I've read the alleged plot was uncovered followed by the mutiny. I know that isn't much more specific, unfortunately details are thin on the ground at the moment. Rewording "mutiny broke out after the". Cordovao (talk) 14:24, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
- Also says in the article that Saaksvilli personally negotiated with the tank battalion. Are you telling me that the president is that hard to assassinate that 500 tankers who are plotting to kill him cannot kill him as he stands there in their base talking to them?--Senor Freebie (talk) 03:19, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Infobox
[edit]What wikitable should be used it mutiny one doesnt fit in?? Local media says that the mutiny or coup attemp is over after Georgian army send an army unit towards the mutineers.Karabinier (talk) 17:34, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
- First of all, there is no "mutiny" infobox. The one you kept adding was a military conflict infobox, and from what I can tell no actual fighting took place, hence I believe such an infobox is inappropriate. Cordovao (talk) 14:36, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
- yes there is a mutiny infobox check other mutiny articles..well it suits as it was a conflict although without any blood it still was a mutiny. Karabinier (talk) 17:34, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
- There isn't a mutiny infobox, I guarantee. Plus, please stop adding the infobox. Gain approval here first. You have already broken WP:3RR. Cordovao (talk) 14:42, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
- I mentioned to look other articles - please look at ala an example...I also reported your information deletion and refenrece removal from the article with your previous edits to the admins.
- Indeed, as I said that is not a mutiny infobox, that is a military conflict infobox, and there was no military conflict here. The mutiny appeared to stop without military conflict. Regardless, as per WP:BOLD you should have gained consensus before you kept readding, hence why I reported you before you reported for me for my valid reversion of your info (some valid info by other users, and including your own removal of the currenteventag got caught up by accident in the reversions for which I apologize). - A shootout that left a hundred dead is, indeed, a conflict; but the point is, what happened Mukhravani does not qualify. Take away conspiracy theories and it probably qualifies as confusion or disobedience, perhaps signs of a larger picture affecting the whole state, but not a military conflict. I won't be surprised if the story will be quietly AFD'd in a few weeks. NVO (talk) 16:14, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

- Regardless of how well the name of the specific infobox template matches the nature of the event, the Military Conflict infobox presents the key events of the mutiny very well, does it not? Unless there is a more effective format in which to display this information, I don't see any problem with keeping the infobox. EhSeuss (talk) 01:53, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Mutiny failed
[edit]Reports suggest various reasons incl. to assassinate saakashvili -- with that in mind the mutiny was put down quite quickly. Like in bangladesh border rifles mutiny earlier.
- "Mutiny is a conspiracy among members of a group of similarly-situated individuals (typically members of the military; or the crew of any ship, even if they are civilians) to openly oppose, change or overthrow an existing authority."
- Are you sure that the mutiny "failed?" Do we even now what its purpose was? If we don't, how can we classify it as failure? Maybe its only goal was to "openly oppose" the authorities. Do we really need the "failed" attribute in the name of this article? Offliner (talk) 17:45, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Good point, adding "failed" is our speculation. Support you removing it.Ryan4314 (talk) 08:15, 7 May 2009 (UTC)- Scratch that, it doesn't say "failed" in the title/article anymore. Ryan4314 (talk) 08:19, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
Requested change
[edit]Just because the mutiny was put down, does not make it an "attempted mutiny". The mutiny took place, but was quelled. In fact, most mutinies are, and we should not call them "attempted mutinies". I say we change this to "2009 Georgian mutiny".--RM (Be my friend) 04:23, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
