Results Box

[edit]

Does anyone know how to do a proper results box matching the one for the Wikipedia page on the Ontario referendum? The current one is incomplete. --Reallavergne (talk) 17:58, 21 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

In my view, the following material does not belong in the "Question section" and strikes me as a little too editorial in character for an encyclopedia. I have removed it. cit "BC-STV would offer a much more proportional representation but would complexify the administration of elections. The proposal was to keep using paper ballots, which would contain more information. Converting the paper votes to results would have been longer and required more human resources." endcit. One could have a section in which we would cite the main arguments made by both opponents and supporters of STV, but that would have to be a separate section and much more complete. --Reallavergne (talk) 18:03, 21 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Analysis

[edit]

This page sorely needs well-sourced opinion and analysis for the reasons for the massive drop-off in support from the earlier referendum. ‒ Jaymax✍ 06:32, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Canada, and North America for that matter, not just BC, needs proportional representation. Only then will your vote truly count, because in a first-past-the-post system, if you do not vote for the winning person, your vote counts for NOTHING. Just like in the USA for that matter. In the case of BC's attempt to change the voting system, KEEP IT SIMPLE. Forget the multiple candidates thing. Just vote for a certain political party, and they will have their lists of candidates to fill the jobs. That way, you will get competent and experienced people in parliament also.Egarthe (talk) 03:26, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I totally agree with you Jaymax. I have already added some analysis of this sort for the Wikipedia page on the Ontario Referendum, so let's see what I can do for this one. Your question is fundamental. Will four referendums in a row having failed in Canada, we need to understand why and how this happened. Denis Pilon wrote a great article in 2010 that I will use as a primary source to write something up. We can add other references later as required. --Reallavergne (talk) 17:58, 21 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
