Rename
[edit]I suggest the article get renamed to 2008 Georgia-Russia tensions. Crisis is to extreme a word for what is really going on. Pocopocopocopoco (talk) 05:08, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
- I don't agree with this move and consider it to be potentially controversial. Please follow Wikipedia:Requested_moves#Requesting potentially controversial moves to avoid dishonest machinations that have taken place at Talk:Ochamchire. You should add specific templates and follow all three steps listed in the guidline when requesting a move. Best of luck,--KoberTalk 05:22, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
- I dont agree either, the title is proper to describe current events. Iberieli (talk) 17:26, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
- I disagree also based on current development. Bombing capital of another country is definitely a crisis or possibly more. What do you think when Peking is bombed now by Russia?--Kittyhawk2 (talk) 16:39, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
Why dispute on neutrality?
[edit]There should be a reason to make such dispute. I am not Mr. obvious.--Kittyhawk2 (talk) 17:09, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
Several things are missing:
1. there are no referrals to Independence Referendums in Abkhazia and Ossetia, without which the whole perspective in contorted;
2. the link to the drone video is dead (IMO, a link to an item in a private repository is hardly an acceptable choice);
3. objectivity: the conflict is not over and many details are not yet known; however a very subjective point of view has already been expressed, affecting judgment of those not in the know;
This is encyclopedia, not a blog. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.69.160.1 (talk) 12:06, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
Chechen GRU adventures before the August war
[edit]As it was discussed in http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Talk:2008_South_Ossetia_war#Chechen_Troops_in_Ossetia, I checked here and found nothing. How about we use the Georgian source on the July mutiny?[1] I can provide the Russian sources of on shooutouts between the Chechen and Russian "peacekeepers" if needed. Cyber-attacks related to the Georgia-Russia crisis
[edit]Looks like some recent cyber-attacks have been pinned on the ongoing crisis. http://news.cnet.com/8301-1009_3-10015657-83.html and http://news.cnet.com/8301-27080_3-10305200-245.html Torinir ( Ding my phone My support calls E-Support Options ) 12:24, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
And you can add http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/07/technology/internet/07twitter.html?_r=1 Torinir ( Ding my phone My support calls E-Support Options ) 12:29, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
- Added. --Xeeron (talk) 11:01, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
- Not sure if this belongs to Georgia-Russia crisis, as there is no indication of any state involvement.
- Graham Cluley, of security firm Sophos, told BBC News there was no suggestion the attack against the blogger was state-endorsed. "It was almost certainly an individual who took objection to his blogs," he said.[2]
- Therefore, it's not necessarily about Russia-Georgia relations, but about the relation between two individuals. Offliner (talk) 11:08, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
- Well, at a minimum, we can be sure that the persons/sites involved were Georgian and Russian. It also fits in with the hightened tensions part in the paragraph before, since it obviously is connected with the war one year ago. --Xeeron (talk) 11:12, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
Article name/scope
[edit]In light of the recent rename to 2008-2010, I want to question the scope of this article. The "crisis" between Russia and Georgia shows no sign of abating anytime soon. So it is likely that we will move this article to 2008-2011 in a year, and so on. In effect, that means duplicating Georgia-Russia relations for those years. In my opinion, this article should concentrate on the events of 2008 up till the 2008 South Ossetia war. Everything that happened in 2009 and later should be moved to Georgia-Russia relations. --Xeeron (talk) 10:22, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
- 2011, zero new content, yet another rename. "2008–present Georgia–Russia crisis", what kind of name is that? I'll move this to the original name: 2008 Georgia–Russia crisis. Content from later years can be moved to Georgia-Russia relations as mentioned above. --Xeeron (talk) 20:06, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
