Word positioning

[edit]

The positioning of the words 'Seeded' and 'Loser' on the ranking points could be clearer.

Qualifying round dates

[edit]

Is there a reason why these are not on the table? Can somebody please add them (from http://www.worldsnooker.com/entire_calendar.htm)?:
Northern Ireland Trophy - 15th-17th August
Shanghai Masters - 2nd-5th September
Grand Prix - 22nd-25th September
Masters - 21st-26th November
UK Championship - 1st-8th December
China Open - 21st-24th January
Welsh Open - 3rd-6th Feb
World Championship - 25th Feb-10th March (except 6th March)

Qualifying round dates are not on the table, then it has no winner. And on the list of the qualified players are 16 names. Armbrust (talkcontribs) 17:08, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No need to put anything in the 'winner' column.--MartinUK (talk) 17:26, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

General table layout

[edit]
Resolved
 – Individual Premier League dates were removed. Armbrust Talk to me Contribs 09:38, 11 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The new layout (with wider columns and full players' names for the Premier League events) features the Premier League rather prominently, more so than the more important ranking events. Am I the only one who preferred the previous version? Kabrada (talk) 21:47, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think this new verion has more information of the snooker season, so it is better, then the old version. Armbrust (talkcontribs) 1:18, 31 December 2008

And one more good point is that is shows not only the main tour ewents. So anobody can find all the snooker-events of this season. Armbrust (talkcontribs) 7:08, 31 December 2008

All the season's events were in the table well before the players' names of the Premier League matches were added in full length - and that is the only point I am making. The Premiere League now sort of dominates the whole season table.
In the live of the Premier League staged shouldn't be a winner. If you agree, i remove it. Armbrust (talkcontribs) 22:52, 31 December 2008
If you think the space used by the prem. league is too much you could make separate tables for all rankings

World Billiards Championship

Does this tournament belong into the Snooker Seasonal Calendar? Kabrada (talk) 19:15, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think yes, then it is orgasnised by the WPBSA. Armbrust (talkcontribs) 17:04, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

True, but it isn't a Snooker tournament, AFAIK they play English Billiards there. Kabrada (talk) 19:12, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed it. (you conviced me). Armbrust (talkcontribs) 1:11, 31 December 2008

Royal London Wathes Grand Prix

I think that should be: Royal London Watches Grand Prix ("c") yes ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.171.135.165 (talk) 15:13, 25 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Of course. I changed it. Kabrada (talk) 20:58, 25 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Snooker season 2008-09Snooker season 2008–09 — It is nonsense to use "2008/2009" which is too complicated for comprehension. — Raymond "Giggs" Ko 03:50, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Survey

[edit]
Feel free to state your position on the renaming proposal by beginning a new line in this section with *'''Support''' or *'''Oppose''', then sign your comment with ~~~~. Since polling is not a substitute for discussion, please explain your reasons, taking into account Wikipedia's naming conventions.
  • Oppose, and rename otherwise, as the rationale given is erroneous and hyperbolic. This and the related articles should be immediately moved [back] to the names conforming to all other snooker articles, namely Snooker season 2008/2009 in this case, because the "2008/2009" nomenclature is standard within the snooker field. I think that the nominator fails to understand that this is not the "2008 through 2009 season", including both years. That is, snooker seasons do not go "2006–2007" followed by "2008–2009". Rather, the seasons span the turn of the year, and go in the order "2006/2007", "2007/2008", and "2008/2009". The "2008–2009" naming scheme is directly misleading, strongly implying the former season structure, and that is what would be confusing. Anyone who found "2008/2009" to be "too complicated for comprehension" should not be reading en.wikipedia, but simple.wikipedia. Anyway, please do not wander into unfamiliar topics and make a fuss without doing your homework. This all could have been avoided simply by asking a simple "why" question at WT:SNOOKER. PS: Should the "/" nomenclature somehow be rejected, then, yes the "-" version of the name should be moved to the "–" version, per WP:MOS, but that has nothing to do with the proposal rationale at hand. PPS: The reason it has not been abbreviated to "2008/09" is because a) this would be very confusing to many readers, who would interpret "2008/09" to mean "September 2008", and b) the article names would be inconsistent as they crossed the millennium: "1998/99", "1999/2000", "2000/01". — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 10:38, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Move and guidelines Guidelines are to exclude forward slashes. While allowed, they are discouraged and not necessary in this instance. For articles that need slashes as a part of their name, it is appropriate, but for articles where it is not necessary, they are to be avoided. —Justin (koavf)TCM20:55, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Addendum I don't know how these moves were accomplished, but they created redirects for the talk pages somehow/for some reason. E.g. Talk:Snooker season 1988/1989. This should be fixed. —Justin (koavf)TCM20:56, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
