Delinking dates

[edit]

Since I know I will get reverted immediately (like Lightmouse) I wanted to solve this topic here. Actually, every major editor that edits this year's football articles thinks (or at least acts like that) that dates should not be linked. That was previously a common thing, but not anymore. See Wikipedia:Overlink#Dates for further information. I know there is still a discussion going on (and without one-sided result), but it is recommended not to link dates. It is also an an unofficial broad consensus, what I could see from editing articles. Mostly it is a matter of consistency since every article in this season's European football has delinked dates. Please add your thoughts and reasons for and against before reverting an edit. SonjiCeli (talk) 22:44, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Are you refer to the practice of linking the date to the pages with historical events that occurred on the same day/month/year in the past? If yes, I am with you. I dont see why the viewers of this page, or any page would care about unrelated events that happened hundreds of years ago.Elsonlam1 (talk) 23:08, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wait for the end

[edit]

I came to this page a few minutes ago and saw that Malloria beat Barcelona 1-0 (semifinal). I then went to uk.yahoo.com/football . It says the game is tied 1-1. I came back here and clicked on the refresh button and saw that it was updated to 1-1. I am not sure about the protocol, but I think it's better if we wait until the end of the match to update the result of the game. Elsonlam1 (talk) 23:08, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
