NPOV

[edit]

There is a problem, this seems to not be in NPOV

I really think it is ridiculous to have an empty article on an event almost a year away. It cannot contain any substantial factual information whatsoever. Whoever started this article is wasting their time and any viewer's.

Deletion

[edit]

This article is pourly written, and I think it should resume when the playoffs come

International broadcasters

[edit]

Is it appropriate to display the international broadcasters, if even the intercontinental ones? --Howard the Duck 06:17, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes Chris 04:00, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Home Court

[edit]

I thought that home court in the playoffs went 2-2-1-1-1. Can someone explain this to me?

The changed it in the late 80s so that there'll be less expenses; although all other series are 2-2-1-1-1. --Howard the Duck 16:44, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Correct, but in the NBA Finals it is a 2-3-2 format.

Playoffs roster

[edit]

Is it better to place the two templates side by side? I don't know how to do that, so if anyone agrees, please do that. If no one cares, then let this drop. Chris 04:00, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I thought of doing that, but it might stretch on some monitors with low resolutions. --Howard the Duck 04:11, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I did it. Hope it works. —MC 00:56, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've also thought of replacing international players' schools (actually, it's countries) with the club teams they've last played with. --Howard the Duck 04:12, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think we should do that as the NBA doesn't. —MC 00:56, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Actually the NBA says "none" on their college. --Howard the Duck 07:37, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh. I don't know then. Try asking at the WikiProject. —MC 19:28, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
When players are introduced for starting lineups, international players are introduced by nationality. For example "At Guard, 6'6" from Argentina, #20 Manu Ginobili!!!" So we should follow that template. Dknights411 23:50, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK, NBA.com doesn't actually list the colleges if a player didn't play in the U.S. previously, they only have "From" and right after that is the country. Compare Bosh and Dirk. Although that doesn't mean we should follow that; Encarta listed Yao Ming's team (Shanghai Sharks) before he was drafted on its list of 1st overall picks. --Howard the Duck 23:58, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
(reindent) IMHO, even though it is nice to be that ambitious, it's a lot easier to list nationalities, for the readers and for continuity sakes with the NBA. On a roster list such as this, the bare bones information, (i.e. what the NBA uses) is enough. Any aditional info should be made on the player's own pages. Dknights411 00:07, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You may be right since international some players (like Sasha Pavlovic) don't have a pro team before he was drafted. Although it'll be a lot better if the club teams are to be added because it is unnecessary repetition (a flag is there already), unless Americans really don't know what flag Germany this is. --Howard the Duck 00:30, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The sad truth is most Americans don't. It's REALLY sad. Dknights411 00:33, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If that's the case then it may be a good idea to retain the country names, but IMHO their previous club teams should be mentioned too... I just don't know how. The country is named is displayed as the alt caption anyway. --Howard the Duck 01:04, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Listing the former club's name like that would be bordering on information overload IMHO. Let's keep things simple for now, Ok? Dknights411 02:13, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Then what do you call colleges? Information underload? Since the nearest available comparison for U.S. colleges in international players is their club team, I fail to see this as information overload. You'd just replace the country name... and with the comment below, I don't see a reason why this should not be implemented. --Howard the Duck 02:17, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
(reindent) Oh, I thought you ment listing the nationality AND the former club. Sorry my bad. But I would still lean towards only listing the nationality because that's how the NBA does it. I'll try to find a larger consensus on this issue though. Dknights411 04:02, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If they don't know what country the flag is, then they can just click on it. zomg, genius! bob rulz 02:14, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Game summary

[edit]

Hey, is anyone here agree that we should have game summaries in this article? Chris 22:54, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes but can we source it? I don't like what was done in the 2007 playoffs page where series summaries didn't have sources. --Howard the Duck 07:36, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sources for what? What needs sourcing? bob rulz 15:53, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The sources for the upcoming game summaries. Aside from the recap link, we should also use the <ref> element. --Howard the Duck 16:11, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rock on which Wiki is built

[edit]

Kudos to whoever put in the scintillating sports verbiage; I had to repeat it in the Cavs section. ;} PedEye1 22:42, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your sentence sounded like POV to me and it has been removed. Chris 01:41, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Errors

[edit]

I think there is an error in the game 1 summary. Before the finals began, the Spurs had only been to 3 finals in the past 8 seasons : 1999, 2003, and 2005 not 4 in the past 9. The latter statement is true now that the spurs have won the championship, but should not be said in the part of the article, as it can cause confusion to the reader.

You're right, I'll fix that... --Howard the Duck 12:45, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

NPOV / OR

[edit]

Just to point out the obvious... this article reeks of NPOV writing and a severe lack of references. Claims to the motivations of teams, that a game was won by luck, etc etc... stuff like this needs to be taken care of before removing the tags advising readers and editors that this isn't yet up to WP standards. 66.69.88.148 04:57, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Obviosly, not the entire article is OR. You must pinpoint a section of OR-ness. --Howard the Duck 04:59, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed your pov tag since I don't see any problem. Chris 23:48, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
