Not a valid speedy delete

Regarding a title, I followed what had been done with N44982. Is there a standard naming scheme for articles about a specific aircraft? I'd think it would either be the aircraft registration number or serial number. —LoganCale (talk | contribs) 14:03, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Take care in deleting or changing this article too quickly. Drug trafficing through Venezuela is notable, and there are numerous mentions of it in the press, although some pro-Hugo Chavez defenders may want to stifle that information. Before deleting, moving, or renaming this article, you might want to carefully study similar entries on Wiki, and the systematic cleansing of all criticism of Hugo Chavez's government that is occurring. I do not know if there is such standard. "Drug trafficking through Venezuela" can be an interesting article. You could include the N900SA affair as part of this article but before starting a new article check if a similar article exists, Illegal drug trade and maybe Venezuela could be a good place to check if a "Drug trafficking through Venezuela" or similar article exists. I realized after posting my above comment that your comment on a new title may have been referring to a Wikinews article on the subject if it were transferred. I still personally feel the aircraft is notable enough to have its own page on wikipedia - it has been covered in US media somewhat and continues to be covered in the Mexican media from what I've heard. If you feel the article is written too much like a news story, I would suggest editing it to be more encyclopaedic rather than all-out deleting it. —LoganCale (talk | contribs) 18:30, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Unfortunately, it would appear that most of the mainstream media sources on this story have removed the stories for some reason. The Tampa Tribune article is no longer on their site, but Archive.org managed to save a copy of it. Involvement in Extraordinary rendition

The article originally contained the following "See also" link:

• Rendition aircraft N987SA: on September 24, 2007, N987SA crashed in Yucatán, Mexico, carrying 3.2 tons of cocaine. The Gulfstream II business jet had been involved in the transport of extraordinary rendition victims to Guantanamo Bay by the CIA.

The article in El Informador, a Venezuelan newspaper, is gone from the original site, but a copy is available at the Wayback machine; the article says nothing about extraordinary rendition, Guantanamo, or the CIA. I have therefore deleted the section. Rgr09 (talk) 03:15, 10 October 2016 (UTC)

Revised article

I don't understand how this article managed to stay on Wikipedia. A classic example of Wikipedia trying to report news, at which it is often very bad. Nor do I understand how it got into such a curiously tangled mess. Worst perhaps was the background section attempting to trace the ownership of the plane, one of the most egregious examples of original research I've ever seen. Wikipedia is not the place to do this. The addition of the false claim that before the bust the plane had been used for extraordinary rendition is typical of how such attempts at OR can be abused and even spread to other articles. I will vigorously oppose any further additions of SEC 8K forms, ownership forms from Edinburgh, FAA registry references, blog posts, etc. Rgr09 (talk) 01:35, 16 October 2016 (UTC)
