Bracket: Image vs. table

At first I thought the bracket wasn't a good idea, but I'm getting used to it. The only problem I have is, only certain people (i.e. those with graphic manipulation software) can edit it. I have designed a (makeshift) table as a possible way of allowing everybody to edit it (which is the WP philosophy, neh?), here:

Its not bad but I think there are too many lines and the rankings are hard to seperate from the scoreline. Maybe just have the rankings in brackets next the name of the team and remove those extra lines. Plus if its possible have the winner between the names of the two teams that played. Sorry I more meant that the lines are somewhat distracting. If they were made invisible the table would just look neater. And the comment about winners between the names, more that instead of having the name of the winner right next to one name looks a little confusing. If you had the name of the winner halfway between the two names of the teams playing its a bit easier to read. Nothing hugely important

I made a dramatic change to the table so that it actually looks like a bracket. Regarding the ranking vs the score, I switched the (n) to #n to disambiguate the seed number. The format is on par for the same complexity sans acouple borders... ZMan 01:52, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

I like it except for a couple things. I'm wary of all the extrenuous spaces in the syntax for one. I also don't understand the "colspan='1'"s which seem pointless. I also don't like the bottom division playoff games having home team on top and road on bottom. Just a few things. KramarDanIkabu 18:19, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

I removed the extra spacing(it was there for readability). I also removed the extra columns(they were there to give a small space between the teams in the superbowl slots and the lines...but that is unneeded). Then switched out the order of the bottom half of the divisionals to reflect location of games. I believe this takes care of all KramarDanIkabu's concerns. ZMan 02:59, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

I like this but I think it would look nicer if we replaced the name of the city in the bracket with the helmet of the team :) And also I think the bracket should be the first thing on top, not in the buttom. Chaldean 19:47, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

I like the idea of a bracket but don't like the execution. I really like the way CBS Sportsline does their bracket. I have taken a screen capture of their bracket and uploaded it as an example (although it's probably copyrighted so we might not be able to use it on the main page, I'm not sure). It's an okay bracket but I don't see what it adds to ours that we don't already have (except for helmet pictures, which are unnecessary). KramarDanIkabu 17:34, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

Interestingly enough that is the exact bracket that I modeled my first incarnation of this bracket after. The helmets aren't appealing nor would they likely easily be added to the article, thus in my opinion should be left off. The orginal bracket is too large and doesn't fit on smaller screens. I found the resulting score: DEN d. NE 27-13, was floating in a non-visually apealling location and could more concisely be relayed. I too like the horizontal and vertical symetry of the CBS bracket but, as was mentioned before, the CBS bracket looses who was the home team.

I'd like to suggest that we move the bracket to the main article soon. ZMan 05:20, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
