[edit]- France voices bid for 1991 RWC
- England wants RWC 1991
- Also found this article dating back to 1987 of Argentina putting their hand up for the 1995 RWC (as other countries were looking only as far forward as 1991). While it may only serve as a footnote, it speaks volumes of the success of the 1987 RWC and the eagerness to host future cups. Argentina wants 1995 RWC. May or may not be useful to this article but mention it anyway.

Host Nations
[edit]I have classed the United Kingdom as the host nation in place of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland because for some reason the page will not list more than four hosts and also does reflect the fact that matches were played in all parts of the United Kingdom it just makes things easier although I have also placed England at the top of the list as a host nation as well as the United Kingdom because of the fact they hosted the World Cup Final. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.154.161.174 (talk) 16:34, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
- This is wrong, since they are all independent administrations. It also does not reflect the fact that NI and the ROI are under one administration.--MacRusgail (talk) 17:56, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
Merge Proposal
[edit]I proposed to merge 1991 Rugby World Cup – Asia and Oceania qualification and 1991 Rugby World Cup – Americas qualification into this article, because they both duplicate other articles.JaneciaTaylor (talk) 18:04, 12 December 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose - I don't see any duplicated content. None of the content in the sub-articles is replicated in the main article, so I'm not sure how the above user can justify the claim of duplication. – PeeJay 15:33, 13 December 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose (current proposal) - I am also slightly confused by this proposal. However, if the proposal was to be updated, so that it was/is clear what we are discussing (and the rationale we are discussing), I could just about see a case for merging 1991 Rugby World Cup – Asia and Oceania qualification and 1991 Rugby World Cup – Americas qualification into the 1991 Rugby World Cup qualifying article. Perhaps that was what the proposer actually intended. Not sure. Whatever the case, per PeeJay2K3, I do not see any rationale for merging either of the "sub" articles to this 1991 Rugby World Cup article. And cannot support that (current) proposal. - I'm closing this thread. And removing the merge tags. Its been a month, and there would appear to be no consensus for the proposed merge. (Personally I think that the proposer had intended to propose the two sub-articles (on qualification) to the 1991 Rugby World Cup qualifying article. Rather than to this main 1991 Rugby World Cup article. But, give that that wasn't what was actually proposed, there's been no opportunity for discussion on that alternative. Closing this. Little point in leaving tags in place indefinitely. Guliolopez (talk) 09:41, 23 January 2020 (UTC)

[edit]Was it 3,2,1 or 2,1,0. The article is contradictory. Red Jay (talk) 16:44, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
