Suharto at Oran Park

[edit]

Does anyone have a reference re Suharto's participationa at Oran Park please? GTHO (talk) 10:27, 20 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Page 42, August 1990 edition of Racing Car News: "There were two non-qualifiers, and both fell from grace on the same corner... The second was the son of the President of Indonesia, Tommy Suharto who was running an ex-Larry Perkins Commodore under the watchful gaze of LP; Tommy is planning to run Bathurst this year in the Garuda Airlines car and LP suggested he should run at Oran Park to get and idea of what he was up against. On Thursday and Friday he had been impressive for a man who had never driven Oran Park, lapping in the 19s in his first stint. Like Kay he too went into the wall at Champion, damaging the car sufficiently to send him on a sight seeing journey to Mount Panorama." --Falcadore (talk) 20:52, 20 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent. I think it would be worth adding that reference to the Suharto line in the article. GTHO (talk) 03:18, 21 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
