Contradictory Info on the Event
[edit]When researching this event a lot of contradictory info was spread and given at the time. I had to do a lot of generalizing with this. Some articles said the Bus was stopped at 9:30 PM others say it was stopped at between 10-11 pm. Some articles say there were 5 gunmen other say 7, some say the gunmen pointed a handgun at the drivers neck while others said the gunmen pointed a sten gun at the driver's chest. This is likely because different news companies were talking to different survivors but still something to be aware of if you plan on expanding this more.--Garmin21 (talk) 19:40, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
Explain
[edit]@Suthasianhistorian8 Please explain how my edits are not NPOV. The article cited says that a letter left behind says what I had added. CanadianSingh1469 (talk) 02:25, 4 June 2023 (UTC)
- It isn't consistent with the MOS of info boxes that deal with similar topics. We generally use broad terms or allude to a wider event or campaign that encompasses more details and historical context, we don't use narrow or the most immediate precipitates. Plus "Sikh separatism" is a correct characterization of the motive of the event. Southasianhistorian8 (talk) 02:31, 4 June 2023 (UTC)
- See for example 2020 Delhi riots, their infoboxes say "Caused by hate speech, religious nationalism, CAA protests", these are broad terms. See the 2002 Gujarat riots infobox which states Godhra train burning as one of the causes, your edit on this page would be analogous to writing "Retaliation for Hindus believed to have been killed by Muslims " on that page. It just doesn't conform to Wikipedia's MOS. As a compromise, would you be open to
"Anti insurgency measures/efforts"or "Militancy in the wake of the Punjab Insurgency"? Southasianhistorian8 (talk) 02:39, 4 June 2023 (UTC)- I prefer the latter if you are open to it btw (it's more concise). Edit: Nvm, anti insurgency efforts strongly suggests a protest or recalcitrant attitudes or efforts towards the government, what we're dealing with here is attacks on civilians and innocents, which "Militancy" would make clear.
