References

- Reference 30 "The Top 10 sporting epics" is missing the publication date
- Both added. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 13:23, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
Will put the review on hold to allow the nominator to address or query the points raised above. MWright96 (talk) 18:20, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
- Looks like Benny has already done most of these, bar for one point on the dates for qualifying. I'll see if I can find anything. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 21:08, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- There's a reliable source for qualifying starting on 28 March. I'm pretty sure qualifying ended on 11 April but haven't managed to get a definitive source for this from searches in newspapers.com, The Times archive, the British Newspaper Archive, and NewsBank. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 11:26, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
- Yeah, I think if it is anywhere, it'll be in a record book or a really obscure newspaper. If we can't nail down the exact dates, we could do what we did in 1982 and put "in April". Better to be inaccurate and right than precise and wrong/uncited. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 13:21, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
- We did cite to the rothmans snooker yearbook in 1985, did they produce one for 82-83? Or check Cueworld. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 13:28, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
- None of the books I've seen include dates for 1983 qualifying - not even Downer's Almanac. The Rothmans books only started from 1985 and they only cover the most recent season in much detail other than results. The Cue World source doesn't have dates. I haven't got the relevant issue of Snooker Scene, but they don't usually include detailed dates either, except in a sort of "dates for the diary" view - so if anyone has Snooker Scene issues from later 1982 or early 1983 it might possibly be in there. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 14:25, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
- Probably the best approach is to say "in March and April", to avoid issues. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 15:56, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
- @Lee Vilenski: Am satisfied with the changes made and will promote to GA class. MWright96 (talk) 19:44, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
which one is correct?
[edit]At the start of section "Summary", "Qualifying": ...In round one, Mario Morra was 4–9 behind...
But, at 1984 World Snooker Championship, at the end of the same section: ... Andrewartha, Foulds, Parrott, King, Marcel Gauvreau, Joe Johnson, Paul Mifsud, Mario Morra, and Eddie Sinclair made their World Championship debuts in qualifying.
Must be something wrong somewhere.--Jarodalien (talk) 11:49, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
- Neither is wrong, at this event, Morra lost in the opening round of qualifying, and the following year, he progressed to the finals, making his debut there. We don't classify the qualification stages as part of the main draw. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:04, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
- First round (or opening round) doesn't count for qualifying?--Jarodalien (talk) 12:39, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
- The first sentence, is talking about the opening round of qualifying. You have to win multiple matches to qualify for the main draw, Morra lost in the first qualifying round (last 128) in 1983. The following year, he won enough matches in qualifying to reach the main stage of the competition, where he lost in the first round of the main draw (the last 32).
