I found a few items in this article that are in error.
One is that Earl Metcalf was killed after Barbaro had entered the student government room on the 3rd floor. Barbaro had set off a number of smoke bombs that drew Metcalf and another cistodian to the 3rd floor. Metcalf had gone to the room to investigate the smoke while the other custodian pulled the fire alarm in the hallway before following Metcalf. When Metcalf attempted to enter the room he was shot and killed. The other custodian then ran downstairs unharmed.
Also, Neal Pilon (my father's step-brother) was shot and killed on site. He worked for the gas company and was responding to the fire call (routine for gas company workers) to see if the gas service needed to be shut off. He was first hit while trying to cross the street. He fell and was unable to move. When he waved to the responding firemen he was shot again in the head and was killed. He did not die in the ambulance enroute to the hospital.
