- ... that Barcelona women's football team first won the league in 1973, thanks to outperforming their rivals in matches postponed due to having to disinfect a pitch after a horse show?
- Reviewed:
- Comment: Sources in prose - one from ahead of the last matches and one from the following season, as I can't find coverage of the postponed (post-season) matches in newspaper archives. I don't know if we're still on requiring 2 QPQs, so I haven't added them yet, but have done some.
Moved to mainspace by Kingsif (talk).
Number of QPQs required: 2. DYK is currently in unreviewed backlog mode and nominator has 126 past nominations.
Post-promotion hook changes will be logged on the talk page; consider watching the nomination until the hook appears on the Main Page.Kingsif (talk) 18:18, 23 March 2024 (UTC).
- Article was moved from draft space in the proper timeline of the nomination, and is therefore new enough. Article is long enough (barely). Foreign language source accepted in good faith. The hook fact is interesting but it is a bit wordy. It would be good if we could tighten the hook's language and make it slightly shorter. Other than that, just need to get the two QPQs done and this hook can be approved.4meter4 (talk) 08:19, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
- @4meter4: QPQs: Template:Did you know nominations/Maw Htun Aung and Template:Did you know nominations/Tapir!. I'll see about the wording. Kingsif (talk) 18:28, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Kingsif Have you thought about the hook wording at all? It would be good to get this done.4meter4 (talk) 13:36, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- @4meter4: I have come up with an alternative, quite a bit different so alt1 ... that Barcelona women's football team had to play the deciding match of the 1973 league they won after the end of the season, due to the pitch being disinfected after a horse show? Kingsif (talk) 22:54, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Kingsif Hmmm... Still reads a bit awkward and long, and I am not sure we can really say the season was already over when the game occurred, because technically the season didn't end until this game was played even if it occurred later than originally planned. How about alt2 ... that the deciding match of the 1973 winning season for the Barcelona women's football team was delayed by horse excrement? Might require a bit of tweaking to the article prose, but this is clear, to the point, and hooky. If you like this, the article prose will need to be adjusted to match the hook assuming that the foreign language refs support it. 4meter4 (talk) 19:16, 1 April 2024 (UTC)

@4meter4: The sources just say the pitch needed to be disinfected, because of the horses - sticking just to what is V does seem to be making it wordy, but I think alt1 reads well and that the fact is quirky enough that being a bit longer is worth it. Kingsif (talk) 21:20, 1 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Kingsif As explained above, I don't think Alt1 is usable because of the claim that the game occurred after the season was over. That isn't really accurate. It was a delay of the ending of the season. The season can't be over if there is still a final game to determine a winner. How about:
- alt 3 ... that horses were responsible for delaying the deciding match of the Barcelona women's football team's 1973 winning season?
- I like this because it leaves the reader wanting to know how horses could have possibly stopped a football game, especially an important one, from occurring. It will hook people into the article. 4meter4 (talk) 22:12, 1 April 2024 (UTC)
- Requesting a reviewer for alt3; @4meter4: I agree, it's accurate and interesting. Kingsif (talk) 23:16, 1 April 2024 (UTC)
- I like the hook too, but I must ask for an end-of-sentence citation.--Launchballer 09:10, 2 April 2024 (UTC)

- @Launchballer: Duplicated ref. Kingsif (talk) 09:23, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
- AGF on unintelligible source. Let's roll.--Launchballer 10:00, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
