[edit]I made several revisings to this page just now. First, I added some details that I think you'll find are both important and interesting, complete with citations. I think the citations are valid. One of them is a personal account, but it's from the mastermind of Goldwater's nomination, F. Clifton White, and it's in reference to the campaign staff's disappointment when Goldwater made his "Extermism in the pursusit of liberty" speech. Another one uses the source Barry Goldwater: A Political Indictment, to back up the claim that many Republicans disliked Goldwater for his extremism. I don't think the validity of the other sources needs to be argued. At any rate, I also polished the first paragraph. It was a bit choppy and oddly worded. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 164.67.44.100 (talk) 21:58, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Anti-extremism amendment
[edit]Why is there no mention of the infamous proposed platform amendment condemning the extremism of "the Ku Klux Klan, the Communist Party and the John Birch Society", and the uproar it stirred up by casting the Birchers in a negative light? (See [1] etc.) The wording "Rockefeller attempted to deliver a speech" is quite vague and inadequate on its own. AnonMoos (talk) 19:52, 22 January 2018 (UTC)
