1948 Campeonato Profesional → 1948 Colombian football championship – The article title is somewhat generic and ambiguous. I encourage to change the name to something less ambiguous like Colombian football championship similar to what has been done to the German football championship pre-Bundesliga era and Italian football championship pre-Serie A era. From what I understand, professional football in Colombia has had generic titles since 1948 and a brand or recognizable league name has never been in place (like the Premier League, The Football League, Bundesliga, etc) for their tournament until recently when the predominant tournament name was the competition's sponsored name (i.e. Copa Mustang, Liga Postobón). In addition, the Primera A did not exist until 1991 when the Primera B was created, thus requiring the need for a distinction between two divisions of their national football league as of 1991; prior to this season there was only one tier in the entire Colombian football league system. This move would also affect the following seasons as they have been created: 1949, 1950, 1951, 1952. Relisted. BDD (talk) 23:30, 7 August 2013 (UTC) MicroX (talk) 02:31, 31 July 2013 (UTC)

- Support I agree with you on this, the change should be done from 1948-1991, although apart of it there are only 5 articles created (1949, 1950, 1951, 1952 and 1989), so the rest would simply rename the links.-- Brayan Jaimes (talk) 03:02, 31 July 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose - I agree that the current name is not opitional, but we should use article titles that are the most common used in English sources, not some made up name that isn't used in any sources. If the name is too generic, you could add a disambiguator in a bracket like 1948 Campeonato Profesional (Colombia) or 1948 Campeonato Profesional (association football). - The only issue is that Campeonato Profesional is itself a generic title. Why should we settle for this title? I have trouble locating an English source that refers to it as Campeonato Profesional. I suggest moving it to a more acceptable title (and less ambiguous) like 1948 Colombian football championship as 1948 German football championship. It names the sport and country as it lacks a distinguishable name such as Major League Soccer. 1948 Campeonato Profesional (Colombia) does not mention the sport and 1948 Campeonato Profesional (association football) does not indicate country; it remains generic and confusing. This isn't like Premier League which is a recognized, global brand. Campeonato Profesional is too generic. Another generic name was El Fútbol Profesional. Again, it does not indicate a link to Colombia and could refer to almost any Latin American football league. --MicroX (talk) 20:57, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose - a made-up name. GiantSnowman 11:33, 11 August 2013 (UTC)
