Photos
[edit]Here are some photos that you may be able to use in your article. They refer to the 1928 Tate flood of the swollen River Thames, so I wasn't sure whether they were relevant. -- Jreferee 00:15, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Just watched the Seven Wonders video on Bazalgette and the sewers. I found this article very helpful as I was following from him to the embankments, then to the flood. In 'Causes of the flood', para 2, I found the phrase 'This had the side-effect of making it easier for water to access the Thames,...' confusing. Does it refer to sea water coming upstream? How would 'This had the side-effect of making it easier for sea water to flow up the Thames on a high tide ...'? 'Access' is often used too often and is often vague (I see it in my professional life all the time). Wodawik (talk) 04:07, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, that's better wording. It does refer to sea water coming upstream. -- ChrisO (talk) 22:35, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
