The infobox states that the races were held at Newport, R.I., but the text says "The course of the race was from the Club House, Staten Island, N.Y. around the S.W. Spit to and the light ship off Sandy Hook and back, 40 miles." Staten Island and Newport are more than 100 miles apart. Neither of these statements is cited, naturally. The N.Y. claim may have come from the caption of the Currier & Ives print (not exactly a reliable source of factual information, but a significant source of boosterism), but the one source cited would appear to agree about that fact.
