13th Army Band (United States) move
[edit]Is there another 13th army band that warranted the move? You do realise the name does not refer to the band of the 13th Army (United States), but to the 13th US Army band as a sequential numbering of bands in the United States ground forces?--mrg3105 (comms) ♠♥♦♣ 02:26, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- Of course I'm aware of that Mrg. This is a compromise between '13th Army Band,' which you appear to dislike, and '13th army band,' which is incorrect in as much as we capitalise the names of all military units, as per the MOS. It is designed to act as a preemptive disambiguator for the only other formation I can think of that might cause confusion, 13th Army (Soviet Union) (which you're probably aware of). Also, please assume that I do know the key points about Western military units & formations, rather than always explaining things to me that I already know. Buckshot06(prof) 04:23, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- The thing is that I don't know what you know, and you don't know what I know either.
- In truth the article should be named 13th army band (Florida National Guard) because the unit's title is not 13th Army Band, and there is one in every state, with examples here [1]. This is going to get interesting as there is a proposal to split the United States military bands.
I don't know that the article on the 13th Army Band (Soviet Union) will ever get written :)--mrg3105 (comms) ♠♥♦♣ 06:50, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- Er, forgive me, but I appear to have renamed it to the standard convention for US Army bands, viz 338th Army Band (United States) They're all numbered in one sequence across the entire US Army, and if you have a reference saying the title is something else, not '13th Army Band,' please point me to it. Now, in terms of knowledge, with regard to all Western armies, please, I repeat, assume I know everything, as I am sick and tired of repeatedly being told things I already know. If I don't know, I can always ask, or, as I very often do, google it until I get an answer. Buckshot06(prof) 08:17, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- So I guess you must know that it has been a long time Practice In The US Army To Capitalise Every Letter In Titles, and SOMETIMES EVEN THE ENTIRE WORDS (not screaming) :-) This case with the bands is an anomaly where the unit name does not conform with the Wikipedia MOS of capitalising the words because the unit name does not refer to the Army, but to the US Army, that's all--mrg3105 (comms) ♠♥♦♣ 04:38, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
