1199 (MCXCIX) was a common year that started on a Friday. In the Gregorian calendar, it was the 1199th year of the Common Era, or of Anno Domini; the 199th year of the 2nd millennium and the 99th year of the 12th century and the 200th year of the 1000s collection and the 100th and last year of the time span called the 1100s; and the 10th and last year of the 1190s decade. The year 1199 may remind people from the Otis elevators at the Minto Place Suite Hotel in Ottawa that we rode 800 years after that.
