Sinifere

[edit]

There isn't a lot of information about this god or Berber gods in general. But I did locate an article in Google Books which states that the Berber god Sinefere was synonymous with Athtar

Unnecessary equivalents

[edit]

I'm under the impression there is virtually nothing to gain from randomly including Amatsu-Mikaboshi and other figures from religions which never came into direct contact with any version of the deity discussed in this article in the infobox. It's basically turning the infobox into a carbon copy of the category meant to gather all deities associated with the planet Venus, and offers no actual information about what primary sources have to say. Given the rest of the article is on remarkably high level I think it just distracts from the high quality content down below to have this sort of pop-theology involved. The historical context in which these deities were worshiped differs so it's hard to talk about them as "equivalent" in any real way. Even Ninsianna is on thin ice, frankly - the trilingual god list from Ugarit, faulty as it is, pretty firmly has a different deity as the Mesopotamian counterpart of Attar, relying on completely different aspects of the deity's character than the Venus association, for instance... A second problem: equivalents actually directly attested in Ugaritic texts for the god under discussion are left out... because the connection relied on shared warlike character, one would presume, and thus doesn't fit the "theme" assigned to the infobox?
