[edit]This doesn't seem like a stub anymore. I'm going to remove that label, but feel free to replace it if appropriate. Davidlwilliamson (talk) 07:52, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
article needs review for professionalism & details
[edit]I'm not sure how to flag this article for "needs grammatical review"--perhaps there is such a Wikipedia flag--except just to state so here. Punctuation in this article needs serious review, sentence fragments need to be fixed, etc. Basic details are omitted (e.g., it doesn't mention the Maui populations). (P.S. Also, the article needs references for most of the basic content.) philiptdotcom (talk) 15:36, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
- I would advise you to just be bold and bust a move, copyedit as you like and add references. It might take as much effort as it does to write on the discussion page. --Travis Thurston+ 21:18, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
Etymology
[edit]- Sound the ʻIʻiwi have been named after the noise that it made? Anthony Appleyard (talk) 05:11, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
- It's name is more likely related to the word "kikiwi" which means "Bent or curved, as a bird beak" according to the Hawaiian Dictionary. Also likely related to the familiar kiwi of Aotearoa Anammox2017 (talk) 02:36, 21 February 2019 (UTC)
