"L'uccello a rischio di estinzione alle Hawaii" (in Italian). Il Post. 23 August 2023. Archived from the original on 23 August 2023. Retrieved 24 August 2023. The 'akikiki (Oreomystis bairdi), also called the 'Kauaʻi creeper', is a passerine endemic to the island, which is located in the north-western area of the [Hawaii] archipelago, in the Pacific Ocean. It's about 13 cm long, it weighs about 15 g and has dark gray plumage on its head, spine and sides, as well as lighter plumage on its inferior part. In the last few years, its population has shrunk so much and so quickly that, according to the state's Department of Territory and Natural Resources, the chances for the species to survive in the wild are "very low".
