Talk Losice. In 1942 virtually the entire Jewish population ( 6,400 of a total of 8,000 ) of Losice was eliminated. Herded by the Nazis into the town square where they were then led to Siedlce 18 miles to the west and from here to the death camp at Treblinka. At the same time the Jewish cemetery was destroyed with it's gravestones ( matzevot )removed and transported to a local residence which the Nazis took over to serve as it's gendarme headquarters for the region. Here the gravestones were buried to serve as a courtyard. In 2003 approximately 1,500 gravestones were recovered. On October the 8th, 2007 construction began on a project which would see these gravestones return to the pre-W.W.II site of Losice's Jewish cemetery. In conjunction with this restoration a memorial will be erected in memory of those Jews whose lives were lost because of the brutality of the Holocaust. 24.76.91.102 23:27, 16 October 2007 (UTC) On May 20th of 2008 the memorial was completed and a rededication ceremony took place. In attendance were two survivors - Jankiel Kulawiec and Renee Glassner, along with a number of children of survivors who travelled from the U.S., Canada, Israel and Sweden. Our thanks go out to the lovely people of Losice and the PJCRP which guided the construction of the restoration.--Winnipegger49 (talk) 12:44, 3 August 2008 (UTC) Viktor Lewin, August 3, 2008.[reply]

Some remarks regarding Oskar Pinkus book " House of Ashes"

Moreover, Oskar Pinkus, the author of House of Ashes is equally economic with truth or guilty of straightforward lie. In one section of his book he took advantage of the fact that most world population do not speak Polish and published the order of the Home Army (resistance underground ) where he alleges that was an order to exterminate hiding Jews. In fact, it was is an order given to protect farmer population against criminal gangs, or soviet guerrilla bands operating in the countryside. Jewish groups who were in hiding are barley mentioned as one of many who attack and rob, kill local villagers who thus needed protection.

Unsourced and Claims of Jewish Collaboration Leading to “extermination of local Polish patriots”

[edit]

The section quoted below is unsourced, and bordering on anti-Semitic. If it remains, editorializing about Jewish disloyalty to Poland must be removed, and it must be rigorously sourced. My spouse’s relatives were among those from Losice who died in Treblinka.

“Once again, whoever writes it conveniently forgets to mention Jewish collaboration with invading Bolsheviks in 1920 and 1939. Triumph arches decorated with flowers were built for them and prosecution and extermination of local Polish patriots began. This was act of treason of the country that gave Jews shelter and place to live over the centuries. Many Poles were taken to the gulags with Jewish collaboration and many have died in Jewish- Bolsheviks pogroms. Similar atrocities occurred in many towns in eastern Poland.” 2601:283:487F:C5FC:2153:D513:FDCB:5062 (talk) 04:54, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

No worries, I am working on proper publishing the facts and erecting memorial to people exterminated by Soviets and their collaborators. 2A00:23C5:2B88:6F01:CD66:1508:EB61:D535 (talk) 08:43, 23 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
