Embrio

[edit]

In what sense is Embrio "exclusive"? Who is excluded? - Jmabel | Talk 07:59, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, according to the DJ Project website (which is in Flash and thus we can't link to individual pages), the Embrio club is "exclusive". I presume this means exclusive as in "top-range", "boutique", "niche". There is a bit of POV in this, but it should be noted that Embrio is one of the top clubs in Bucharest (this is also shown in the videoclip, which, like the song, is beautifully-crafted). Apparently they had a few problems renting out the nightclub for the videoclip, and they stated it was an honour for them to film there. Ronline 08:06, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Can I'm a little suspicious of hype here (on their part, not yours). Upmarket? Likely. Elegant? Likely. And a few things in Bucharest are genuinely "exclusive", but my experience of Bucharest nightclubs (I don't know Embrio) is that if you have cash, you're in. Or at least if you have cash and you don't look like a total slob. Which, in most of the world, is not counted as "exclusive". - Jmabel | Talk 09:00, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ha! The wonders of "romgleză". Apparently, the club is actually called Embryo, its website being at [1]. This is what In Your Pocket has to say about it:
Achingly fashionable bar and lounge that stays open until late. It's chic and snobby but it doesn't care. Drinks that cost a small fortune, but you are paying for the rather too fashionable crowd as much as anything, and hey, that's how the in-crowd likes it we guess. The design? Think 'rejected for an episode of Space 1999 on the grounds of being too futuristic.' You still aren't even close.
The fact that it's featured on In Your Pocket means that it does have a certain status, and the review implies that it is rather "exclusive" (both in terms of expensive and in terms of being fashionable). As an aside, the club was the host of the SoNoRo International Chamber Music Festival, whose site states, "The Embryo club, one of the most en vogue clubs in Bucharest, is the most exotic destination of our musical voyage." Embryo's website is also really snazzy. In any case, I've removed the "exclusive" reference and replaced it with a comment on the club's design, since this is probably more relevant to the videoclip. If we can get some free-use photos of the club's interior, I'd like to make an article :) Ronline 09:50, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
En vogue seems also like a good, citable choice.
I haven't looked lately, but I assume that In Your Pocket also lists the Fire Club and Club A, both fine places, much more my style than this sounds to be, but about as "exclusive" as McDonalds. - Jmabel | Talk 04:54, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
