Sylejman Sylejmani (born January 29, 1953-January 28, 2017) was an Albanian academic and politician. He was a professor of Chemistry at the University of Prishtina, as well as the Education Minister of Gjakova, as well as leader of the Albanian League of Education (LASH). He lead the student protests of Gjakova and was one of the founders of the Democratic League of Kosovo and Kosovo Liberation Army and Kosovo War veteran. He developed amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) as a result of torture endured during before and after the Kosovo War.

Before Sylejman Sylejmani was named the leader of LASH (League of Albanian educators) in Gjakova in 1994 the league were facing an institutional crisis under Feti Dashi,but such a crisis was overcome as soon as Sylejman became the leader of the league in Gjakova,he successfully led the educational institution and he held this position until after the war ended in 1999,although he,like his predecessors and the directors of many Albanian schools,had experienced the punitive measures of the serbian security forces which were printed by the known killer of Ukshin Hoti,Streten Camovic,who,being a former education worker in Gjakova himself knew well the patriotic aspirations of the LDK's education system and of his former colleagues like the professor at the time Dr Sylejman Sylejmani of Chemistry.Therefore,he lead the attacks on members of the LASH and many teachers and students.On May 8,1994 the police arrested Feti Dashi as well as the chairman of financing Shaban Deva,who,after being held for 2 days in the police station (SPB of Gjakova)were sent to a prison in Peja.The security chief Zoran Zhumkiqi and the inspector of this security force,Nanad Lekic,were in the action of raiding the LASH Offices and taking them to the SPB they arrested Sylejman Sylejmani along with Zef Osmani,Mazllom Kumnova(sentenced to 5 yrs in prison),Miftar Shala and Hasan Sadriu.Arrests and raids against Sylejman Sylejmani and his bureau were not rare.

Sylejman ( Idriz ) Sylejmani was a dedicated member of the LDK who gave massive contributions to the party specifically in his home town Gjakova,In the year 2000 he was the deputy Mayor of Gjakova with the Mayor Aqif Shehu both under LDK..After his death he received public praise by LDK leaders Like during his Funeral ceremony by the former President Fatmir Sejdiu who made a powerful and emotional speech about him and he singled out his stoic character and major contributions to the liberation of Kosova.,and on the 27th anniversary of the LDK branch in Gjakova the prime minister at the time Isa Mustafa and Luan Gola the leader of the LDK branch in Gjakova in 2017 honoured the post mortum activism of Sylejman Sylejmani and his contributions to LDK in Gjakova from 1990-2017 along with other deceased activists of LDK in Gjakova like Bardhyl Çaushi,Aziz Lila,Sadri Zenelaj,Sahit Mula,Beqir Gola and Bajram Bardhi. .

Sylejmani was born January 29, 1953, in Brovinë, Yugoslavia. He married Fatime Sadik Sylejmani and had 6 children: Merita, Mirlinda, Edmondi, Adelina, Nora, and Qëndresa. His wife Fatime Sadik Sylejmani received a post mortem certificate from the Institution of Pedagogy in Kosova (IPK) and the ministry of education science and technology (MASHT) in 2017 for his contributes there since 2007 up until his death in 2017.

He died January 28, 2017.
