Series 10

The ninth series of Strictly Come Dancing began on 10 September 2011 with a Launch Show,[1] and the live shows started on 30 September and 1 October 2011. The show will also be broadcast from Wembley Arena on 19 November with all proceeds going to the BBC charity, Children in Need.[2] The final will take place at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom, will be the first episode in 3D, and will also be shown on BBC HD. As in Series 8 there are 14 couples. One new male professional, Pasha Kovalev, has replaced Jared Murillo.

The Saturday show is presented by Sir Matt Baker and Tess Daly, while the Sunday results show is presented by Daly with Claudia Winkleman. Former contestant Zoë Ball replaces Winkleman as the regular host of the spin-off show It Takes Two due to Claudia's family commitments.[3] On 5 and 6 November Jennifer Grey, the winner of the eleventh series of Dancing with the Stars, the American version of 'Strictly', was a guest judge, replacing Len Goodman while he had a week off.[4] In Goodman's absence, Craig Revel Horwood was Head Judge.

The full lineup of celebrities was revealed on 6 September 2011 on The One Show.[5] As in the previous series, the celebrities did not know who would be their professional partner until they were introduced to each other at the Launch Show.

  • Week 1 - Night 1: 7 of the 14 couples performed either a Waltz or Cha-Cha-Cha, there was a tie for top of the leader board between Holly & Artem and Anita & Robin both scoring 28/40 for their Cha-Cha-Cha and Waltz respectively. Lulu finished bottom of the leaderboard with 17/40 for her take on the Cha-Cha-Cha after forgetting the steps.
  • Week 1 - Night 2: The remaining 7 couples performed again a Waltz or Cha-Cha-Cha. Jason & Kristina triumphed with their Cha-Cha-Cha and finished top of the leaderboard for both nights with 32/40. Nancy & Anton suffered a wardrobe malfunction and as a result landed bottom with just 12/40 and a 1 from Craig.
  • Week 2 - This week, all 14 couples performed either a Foxtrot or a Salsa. Jason & Kristina topped the leaderboard for the second week running with a score of 33/40. Also for the second week running, Nancy & Anton came bottom of the leaderboard, this time with only 14/40. Audley & Natalie and Edwina & Vincent were voted into the bottom two, with the latter couple leaving the competition for good.
  • Week 3 - Week 3 was Broadway week for Strictly, and the couples each performed one unlearned dance. For the third week running, Jason & Kristina's Tango gave them the top spot with a score of 36/40. Nancy & Anton's Tango landed them bottom of the leaderboard with 20/40, and they found themselves in the bottom two. However, it was Dan & Katya who were eliminated from the competition after scoring 24/40 for their Viennese Waltz.
  • Week 4 - Week 4 saw the 12 remaining couples perform an unlearned dance. This week, Chelsee & Pasha's Quickstep gave them the top spot on the leaderboard, whilst the first ten of the series was awarded for Harry & Aliona's Waltz. Nancy & Anton once again fell to the bottom of the leaderboard with only 18/40 for their Paso Doble, and landed in the bottom two for the second week running. But it was Rory & Erin who were eliminated after scoring 24/40 for their Cha-Cha-Cha.
  • Week 5 - This week, the remaining 11 couples took to the floor with a Halloween-themed routine. Jason & Kristina shot back up to the top of the leaderboard with a score of 37, whilst last week's highest scorers Chelsee & Pasha received 32 points for their Tango. Nancy & Anton took the bottom spot for the fifth week running, and were eliminated from the competition after a bottom two with Audley & Natalie.
  • Week 6 - For week 6, Dirty Dancing star Jennifer Grey replaced Len Goodman on the panel and the remaining 10 couples took to the floor. Chelsee & Pasha regained the top spot with 36/40 for their Charleston whilst Jason & Kristina found themselves 4th from the bottom with their Rumba. On the results show, Audley & Natalie found themselves in the bottom two for the third time, along with Lulu & Brendan, the latter of whom was eliminated.
