Stargate School, also called Stargate Charter School, is a charter school for gifted and talented children in Thornton, Colorado, in the Adams 12 Five Star Schools District in Adams County, Colorado, in the United States. It was founded in 1994, and teaches children from kindergarten to 12th grade.[2] The name Stargate combines "Star" from the name of the school district with the initial letters of "gifted and talented education".[3]
History
[edit]The school opened on August 29, 1994.[3] It is the largest charter school in the State of Colorado. Stargate is ranked the #1 Public Elementary, Middle and High School in the State of Colorado.
A new campus of 43 acres (17 ha) opened in 2016 and currently home to over 1550 students. Stargate thrives in its gifted education program. Gifted learners require a differentiated, more individualized curriculum which offers flexibility in the pacing and depth of learning, as well as in complexity and challenge. Stargate and our community provide a framework within which gifted students can learn to understand, develop, and value their giftedness.
Activities
[edit]Students participate in a rigorous academic program as well as competitive in many athletic programs, and student clubs.
Demographics
[edit]In the 2023-24 school year, the school had 1,594 students, of which 776 were white, 459 Asian, 165 Hispanic or Latino, 15 black or African-American, 15 American Indian or Alaska Native, and 162 two or more races.
