The Southwest Corridor is a proposed public transportation rail line in and near Portland, Oregon for TriMet's MAX Light Rail.[1][2]
TriMet has not yet decided whether or not the line would be a new line or an extension of the Green Line.
Proposed route
[edit]The proposed route stretches from:
- The Portland Transit Mall in Downtown Portland
- Southbound following Barbur Boulevard and Interstate 5
- Barbur Transit Center
- Stations near Portland Community College Sylvania Campus
- A station near Tigard Transit Center
- Terminus at Bridgeport Village Mall
The rail line would go through the cities of Tigard and Tualatin.
History
[edit]TriMet and Metro began planning a line for Tigard and Tualatin in 2009. The initial design and environmental review phases were completed between 2016 and 2020.[1]
In November 2020, voters rejected measure 26-218 which would have funded the project (and other transportation projects). Because of this, the project is temporarily suspended until alternative funding can be found.[3]
