Souleymane Faye (born 8 February 2003) is a Senegalese professional footballer who plays as a left winger for La Liga club Betis B and the Senegal national team.
Club career
[edit]Faye left Senegal for Spain in January 2022, joining Granada B.[1] In the summer of the same year, he joined Primera Federación side Talavera, where he made 29 appearances and scored one goal in his first season.[2]
On 12 July 2023, Faye joined Segunda Federación side Betis Deportivo, the reserve team of Real Betis, on a season-long loan.[3] He scored two goals and three assists in 18 appearances for the team throughout the 2023–24 league campaign.[4]
On 8 July 2024, the deal was officially made permanent by Real Betis, as Faye signed a four-year contract with the club.[4][5]
International career
[edit]Faye was part of the Senegal under-20 national team squad that took part in the 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.[6] He scored Senegal's first goal of the tournament in a 1–0 win over Nigeria.[7] On 11 March, during the tournament's final, he scored the opening goal, as Senegal eventually gained a 2–0 win over The Gambia;[8] in the occasion, Faye was nominated as the player of the match.[6]
On 5 September 2023, Faye received his first call-up to the Senegal senior national team for an Africa Cup of Nations qualification match against Rwanda.[2]
