Shakarap
Appearance
Shakarap (also spelt Shakarob)[1] is a simple salad originating from Central Asia,[2] which consists of thinly sliced tomatoes and onions, with salt and pepper.[3] The salad is particularly popular in Uzbekistan,[4] Kyrgyzstan,[2] and Tajikistan.[5]
Variants
[edit]A variant of shakarap includes cucumbers.[5]
Serving
[edit]In Central Asia, shakarap is traditionally served with pilaf.[1]
